Cochise County sports community loses longtime official

SIERRA VISTA — Family and friends lost a loved one with the passing of Sierra Vista’s Sam Williams on July 21, and the Cochise County sports community lost a very familiar face.

Williams spent more than 40 years as a sports official and recognizable presence on fields and courts. His officiating ranged from basketball to softball to baseball and football.
