Robert Francis Bill

Robert Francis Bill passed away on March 29, 2015, in Tucson, Ariz., at the age of 81. He was born on June 20, 1933, in Morristown, N.J. He served in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956 and was a veteran of the Korean War. He moved to Arizona in 1985 and lived in Tucson and Huachuca City for many years. Robert was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion.

Robert was known for his great sense of humor and loving nature. He enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking, playing bingo and visiting casinos.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Anna Bill; his sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Bill Hoyt; and brother, Daniel Bill.

Rosale Kelley

Mireille Downs

Mireille Downs passed away Monday, April 20, 2015, in Sierra Vista. Mireille was born in France to parents, Robert and Jeanette. She met and married her late husband Robert in 1961, who passed away in 1998. They moved to Sierra Vista in 1976.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church on Friday, April 24, 2015, at 9 a.m. Immediately following mass, there will be a procession to the Old Post Cemetery to inter her remains next to her husband.

Mireille is survived by her loving children, James, Maralène and Isabelle. Mireille is also survived by her sisters, Françoise of Kentucky, and Violette, Geneviève, and Dominique of France. She also leaves her special love, her dog Barkley.

Kenneth R. Wilson

Kenneth R. Wilson, 82, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2015. Funeral services will be Friday, April 24, 2015, at 11:30 a.m. at Village Meadows Baptist Church, 1407 S. Arsenio C. Rodriguez

Arsenio C. Rodriguez, 79, of Sierra Vista passed away April 13, 2015, in Tucson, Ariz. Arsenio was born in Puerto Rico. He was a hard working family man who was loved by many. Arsenio loved to watch football and was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Arsenio was married to Emmi for 55 years. He was a Vietnam veteran with 20 years in the U.S. Army, and continued to DOD security after his military career.  

Arsenio is survived by his siblings, Otilia Rodriguez and Miguel Rodriguez of Puerto Rico; children, Christine Nieves (Ariel), Roland Rodriguez (Martina), Ronnie Rodriguez, and Randy Rodriguez (Sonya); grandchildren, Sabrina, Amy, Amanda, Mikayla, and Hanna.

Joseph Arthur Romeo LeClair

Joseph Arthur Romeo LeClair was born on June 21, 1933, at Livermore Falls, Maine, to Lucien LeClair and Adrienne Fortier.

Joseph completed this life’s journey on the morning of Tuesday, April 14, 2015, while in hospice care in his own home. After many years of multiple health problems, he is now at rest with Our Lord.

Joseph was preceded in death by two brothers, Danny and Maurice, and also by two sons, Steven and David. He is survived by his wife, Terri; brother, Rene, and sister, Louise; sons, Michael and Jeffrey, and daughter, Toni. He also leaves behind four grandsons, five granddaughters, and three great-grandchildren.

Betty (Johnson) Shy

Who would have guessed that a little girl from Bloomington, Ind., would lead a life of exploration that took her to distant lands, teaching those she met to celebrate life?

Betty was the first of seven children born to Jack and Lucy (Lee) Johnson. Her sisters, Mary Lou (Kelly), Jean (Hazel), Doris (Mason), Dot Ann (Burns) and brother Jack grew up as a close-knit Indiana family that enjoyed being together.

During World War II, she was one of the first women to work at the Bowman Dairy Company in Chicago, Ill., stepping in to fill the place of men who went to war. She learned how to be independent and developed a deep love of country.

Pamela (Pam) F. Jarrett

Pamela (Pam) F. Jarrett, 75, of Sierra Vista, died of a sudden illness on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at Tucson Medical Center. She was in good spirits and was loving to all during her last days. 

Pam was born in Hove, Sussex, England, in November 1939 to John William Blunt and Gladys Ellen Blunt. Pam was a noted swimmer in her youth, and just missed selection to the United Kingdom Olympic Swimming Team as a teen. She was a longtime British Airways VIP Customer Service Manager, and traveled the world improving BA customer care.

Pam married Francis E. Jarrett of Hawaii at the ‘Iolani Palace, Honolulu, Hawaii, in August 1982. They moved to Sierra Vista in May 1992.

Ismaela Encinas Blakey

Ismaela Encinas Blakey, 100, of Sierra Vista, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2015. Ismaela was born March 6, 1915, in Gleeson, Ariz., to Jose Maria Encinas and Theresa Apoderado.

She lived in Benson from 1943, where she and husband, William C. Blakey had a family and were very active in the community, until 2008 when she moved to Sierra Vista to be with her daughter.

Smiles celebrated her 100th birthday with all her family and friends. The VFW Riders fulfilled a childhood wish of Smiles’ to take a ride on a motorcycle. Smiles arrived at the party atop a Harley Davidson motorcycle with Dan “Gunny” Ferguson.
