Naeko Legaspi

Naeko Legaspi, 73, of Sierra Vista passed away at Canyon Vista Medical Center in Sierra Vista on Friday, May 1.

Naeko was born on June 15, 1940, in Okinawa, Japan. She was raised and educated there.

In December 1971, she married the love of her life, Sgt. Robert F. Legaspi while he was stationed there with the U.S. Army. She was an amazing woman traveling as dutiful army wife from duty station to duty station. During all this, she raised their family setting an example of love and respect. Naeko not only loved her family and friends, but enjoyed cooking, bingo and playing with her grandchildren.

Carlo Sanfilippo

Carlo Sanfilippo went to be with the Lord on April 22, 2015.

He was born in San Diego, Calif., to Margaret and Anthony Sanfilippo. He had four children, Tony, Vicki, John and Mike. He has two sisters and two brothers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and his son Tony.

Services will be at Village Meadows Baptist Church on May 11 at 10 a.m. Burial will be at 1 p.m. at Southern Arizona Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers or money, please give to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Stephen "Lee" Eddy

Stephen “Lee” Eddy, 62, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2015, in Tucson, Ariz. Funeral services will be on May 8, 2015, at 1 p.m at Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel and will be conducted by Rev. Mark Conrad of Sierra Vista United Methodist Church, along with Military Honors. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hatfield Funeral Home.

Hildegard Miles

Hildegard Miles age 79, a 40-year resident of Sierra Vista, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2015. She was born March 12, 1936 in Duisburg, Germany to Walter and Hildegard Hirdt.

Hildegard met and married Frank Miles in Germany in 1972. She was a military spouse and traveled with him until they settled in Sierra Vista in 1974. She often enjoyed playing Kino at the Desert Diamond Casino.

Hildegard was preceded in death by her husband Frank in 1993. She is survived by her daughter, Michele Beckner (Robert R.) of Sierra Vista; son, Jurgen Frahm of Germany; son, Charlie Miles (Becky) and their children Chris and Charlie Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz.; sister, Ulla Kahr of Germany; niece, Silvia Kahr of Germany; and former spouse, Walter Frahm of Germany.

MSGT John O. Fullerton, Ret.

John Oscar Fullerton, 84, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., passed away April 17, 2015, at Sierra Vista Regional Health Center after a very short illness.

John was born in Lincoln, Neb., the son of Evans and Edith Fullerton. He was raised on a farm during his youth and was a farmer at heart. He graduated from Wahoo High School, Wahoo, Neb. In 1949, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served 22 years until his retirement in 1971.

Ruth Carolyn Coulter

Ruth Carolyn Coulter, 71, of Sierra Vista, passed away at Cornerstone Hospital in Tucson, Ariz., on April 29, 2015, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Ruth was born in Spangler, Pa., to Robert and Ruth Krouse and was the eldest of four children. Most of her youth was spent in Johnstown, Pa., where she lived until she was an adult.

In 1966 she married James Dravis and their daughter Kellie was born in 1968. James died in Vietnam in 1969. In 1973, Ruth married Bill Coulter and their son Jeremy was born in 1976. A second son, Moreland, joined the family in 1988 by adoption. Moreland passed away in 2013.

Anton "Tony" Emil Zahradnik

Anton “Tony” Emil Zahradnik, 84, of Sierra Vista, passed away at his home on Sunday, April 26, 2015. 

Tony was born on April 8, 1931, in Czechoslovakia, to Anton Milan Zahradnik and Angela Zahradnikova. He was raised and educated in Slovakia. He was sent to a camp in Italy, when old enough he ran away and there joined the U.S. Army. He proudly served for more than 25 years and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired at the rank of Sgt. First Class. Tony then worked at Fort Huachuca Intelligence Center training new recruits. In 2001 he married Betty Scheibe in Las Vegas, Nev. Tony loved to play tennis and his many awards attest to his excellence. He had been a resident of Sierra Vista for over 40 years.

Michael Rager Pine

Michael Rager Pine, 79, passed away at home on Monday, April 27, 2015. He was born on March 24, 1936, in Ajo, Ariz., to Beulah Ferris Pine and Kenneth Rager Pine. He attended grades one through eight at the Empire School near Sonoita, Ariz., and was a graduate of Patagonia High School.  

He was a highly regarded professional land surveyor living and practicing in the states of Oregon, Washington and Arizona, where he has been a resident for 29 years. He was also an avid hunter and sportsman who delighted in passing those traditions on to his children and grandchildren.

Augustus J. Bock “Gus”

Augustus J. Bock “Gus” passed away on April 26, 2015, peacefully at home, after a long battle with cancer. He was the son of Augustus W. and Grace Margaret (Buckley) Bock of New Jersey. He was born on April 18, 1933, in Newark, N.J.

His sister, Judith, died in 1980 and his grandson, Dwayne Celestine Jr., passed on April 24, 2014.

Mary Lou Clayton

Mary Lou Clayton, 75, of Sierra Vista, passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2015, at Life Care Center in Sierra Vista. Funeral services will be on Friday, May 8, 2015, at 2 p.m at First Christian Church. Interment will take place at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, Calif. Further information will be in a later edition. Local arrangements are under the direction of Hatfield Funeral Home.
