Robert Lewis Elliott, Sr.

Robert Lewis Elliott, Sr., died in Sierra Vista, on July 17, 2015, at age 88. He was one of 10 children born in Colfax, Wash., to Ode and Evelyn Elliott.

Ode owned a body shop and car dealership where Bob worked after school for many years. Upon graduating from high school in 1944 he joined the Navy in World War II, but due to medical reasons received an honorable discharge.

Charles M. "Chuck" Schrader

Long time Sierra Vista resident Charles M. “Chuck” Schrader passed away on June 25, 2015, at the age of 88. Chuck had been an area resident since 1932 and owned “Schrader’s Chevron” gas station just outside of the Main Gate of Fort Huachuca for 37 years.  

He is survived by his son, Jack L. Schrader, DDS, and his daughter, Jill M. Schrader.  

Graveside services will be held Saturday, July 25, 2015, at 10 a.m. at Black Oak Cemetery, Canelo, Ariz., with Pastor H. Lee Irwin to speak. A Life Celebration will be held the same day at 1 p.m. at Pueblo del Sol Country Club.

Glenwood Taylor Emmons

Glenwood Emmons, a 31 year Sierra Vista resident, passed away on July 16, 2015, at Canyon Vista Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Glen was born on April 30, 1927, in Douglas, Ariz., to James Taylor Emmons and Fannabelle Emmons (Carpenter). He graduated from the University of Missouri with a bachelor’s of science degree in electrical engineering. Glen was a Major in the U.S. Air Force, retiring at that rank. He also worked for Arizona Air Pollution Control and for Bell Technical Corp as a Senior Engineer.

Thomas C. Shupert

Thomas C. Shupert, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2015, at his home. He and his wife have been residents of Sierra Vista for 12 years.

Tom was born Oct. 23, 1935, in Chicago, Ill., to Perry L. and Florence (Daly) Shupert. Tom attended Colorado State University where he met his best friend in life, Marjory. They both graduated from Colorado State University in 1957. He joined Glen L. Martin in 1957 and spent over 40 years with Martin working on both the Atlas and Titan missile programs. During his career he assisted with 343 Titan Heritage and 25 Atlas launches.

“Dicky” Jose Ricardo Verdugo

“Dicky” Jose Ricardo Verdugo passed away peacefully Friday, July 10, at his home in Bisbee.  

Dicky was born at home on March 30, 1945, on Chihuahua Hill in Bisbee, Ariz., to Antonio and Francisca Verdugo. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Mary Lou Barragan; and numerous aunts and uncles. He leaves behind his son Richard “Henry”; Verna, his loving companion; siblings, Theresa (Manual) Gil, Anna Abril, Tony Verdugo, Isabel Torres, Sara Bradley, and twin brother, Rudy (Carolyn) Verdugo; and many nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly.

Dr. Ralph Alden Minogue

Dr. Ralph Alden Minogue, resident of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and a well known chiropractor in the area, passed away July 4, 2015, in Sierra Vista, Ariz. Services will be announced at later date.

Rodney Dale White

Rodney Dale White, 55, passed away with his family by his side on July 12, 2015, at his home in Hereford, Ariz., after a 7-month fight with lung cancer. 

Rodney was born in 1960 in Lancaster, Wis., growing up in the area and graduating from Platteville High School before moving to Sierra Vista in 1986. Shortly after moving to Sierra Vista, Rodney went to work for Mike and Dan Rutherford at Rutherford Diversified Industries becoming a big part of their family and quickly becoming a supervisor. Rodney worked at RDI for over 29 years. 

Nancy June Wagner

Nancy June Wagner passed unexpectedly and abruptly on Friday, July 10, 2015. She was a longtime resident of Sierra Vista, known and loved by a large number of Arizona and Sierra Vista relatives and residents.

She was born to John and Dorothy Fritz in Kent, Ohio. She also resided in Phoenix, Ariz., and Dallas, Texas, while accompanying her bereaved husband when he was transferred because of work assignments. Nancy is a graduate of West Phoenix High School and was later a Title Officer for a number of firms.

Kay L. Jackson

Kay L. Jackson, formerly of Pearce, died July 10, 2015, in Sierra Vista at the age of 84. She was born in Waco, Texas on July 23, 1930, to John Jasper Hinsley and Mozell Crider Hinsley.

Kay worked for Eric Anderson, PA in Sunsites for many years as a Certified Nursing Assistant, was a devoted housewife and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sunizona. From 1988 until 2000 she served as a board member of the Valley Union High School in Elfrida.

Nancy June Wagner

Nancy June Wagner, 78, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., passed away on Friday, July 10, 2015. Memorial services will be on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at 10 a.m. at Hatfield Funeral Home. Further information will be in a later edition. Online condolences for the family may be left at
