Imagine Charter School Parents Group
We hope to establish an open dialogue between the parent, teachers, and
administrators at Imagine Charter School. Topics could range between open
discussions of school policy, to classroom happenings, to sports and
extra-ciricular activities.
Broken wings
Broken wings, flying heart. They had both endured the same ordeal, but their different attitudes determined the nature of their lives. It is true that life is unpredictable. Disasters can strike at any time. How you handle misfortune when confronted with it, is the true test of your character. If you choose only to complain and escape from the ordeal, it will always follow you wherever you go. But if you decide to be strong, the hardship will turn out to be a fortune on which new hopes will arise.
Infants and ToddlersFor infants and toddlers
Children need to be prepared for an earthquake as much as adults, if not more.Infants and ToddlersFor infants and toddlers, special emphasis should be placed on making their environment as safe as possible.Cribs should be placed away from windows and tall, unsecured bookcases and shelves that could slide or topple.A minimum of a 72-hour supply of extra water, formula, bottles, food, juices, clothing, disposable diapers, baby wipes and prescribed medications should be stored where it is most likely to be accessible after an earthquake.

Bill Gates meets Hugh Grant at a Hollywood party. They are talking and Bill says, "I’ve seen some great pictures of Divine Brown lately, I sure would like to get together with her!" Hugh replies, "Well Bill, you know … Ever since our incident, her price has skyrocketed. She’s charging a small fortune." Bill said with a chuckle, "Hugh, money’s no object to me. What’s her number?" So, Hugh gives Bill her number and bill sets up a date.

We worked hurriedly
We were standing at the top of a church tower. My father had brought me to this spot in a small Italian town not far from our home in Rome. I wondered why."Look down, Elsa," Father said. I gathered all my courage and looked down. I saw the square in the centre of the village. And I saw the crisscross(十字形) of twisting, turning streets leading to the square."See, my dear, " Father said gently. "There is more than one way to the square. Life is like that.
For some reason
When I was in junior high, the eighth-grade bully punched me in the stomach. Not only did it hurt and make me angry, but the embarrassment and humiliation were almost intolerable. I wanted desperately to even the score! I planned to meet him by the bike racks the next day and let him have it.For some reason, I told my plan to Nana, my grandmother — big mistake. She gave me one of her hour-long lectures (that woman could really talk). The lecture was a total drag, but among other things, I vaguely remember her telling me that I didn’t need to worry about him.
Wherever you are I'll always be here waiting for the day
Wherever you are I’ll always be here waiting for the day we can once meet again. The miss of a lost love can darken the soul. Wishing to see her in the moonlight or day can cause pain and it does in my heart. Her walk was of a God and her eyes were of the dove(鸽子). Lost am I in this world without her. Her touch her sound the kiss of forever and the words that came to be. She died in my arms, and the pain will never go away. Some nights I cry praying for her to be here, but only alone I come to be. If only(要是…多好) someone knew how the pain burns like fire slowly burning the heart.

Widow Invites Four Nice Young Men
Widow Invites Four Nice Young Men To Dinner There was an elderly southern widow who lived in a large mansion. She was feeling generous when it came to Thanksgiving, so she called up the local military base, and asked to speak with the lieutenant. “Please send up four nice young men to eat dinner here on Thanksgiving, but please, don’t send any Jews. Please, no Jews.” The lieutenant replied, “No problem ma’am, and I am sure I speak for the army when I say we all appreciate your kindness.” Well, Thanksgiving rolled around, and the widow went to answer the door when it rang.

Xu Shu was much valued by Liu Bei for his strategic talents. After several victories on the battleground against Cao Cao, Xu was made the chief military advisor. At the news, Cao Cao was begrudging(忌妒的) . You asked me to sing to you
You asked me to sing to you. I complained, "Aw, Mom, I’ll wake people up." Once again, I let my ever-present stage fright come before you. Looking back, it’s hard to believe I was so selfish. But you persisted, and eventually I caved.I sang our favorites - Barbara Streisand, Linda Ronstadt and Bette Midler. My voice was quiet and hushed, commensurate with the dim light in the room. I made sure the sound didn’t penetrate the walls.

The girl says, “According to the picture on the box, it’s a tiger.” Her boyfriend decides to go over and help her with the puzzle. She lets him in and shows him where she has the puzzles spread all over the table. He studies the pieces for a moment, then looks at the box.

After a long search
An American tourist in Moscow found himself needing to get rid of a large supply of garbage from his recent stay at an apartment. After a long search, he just couldn’t find any place to discard of it. So, he just went down one of the side streets to dump it there.Yet, he was stopped by a Moscow police officer, who said, "Hey you, what are you doing?""I have to throw this away," replied the tourist."You can’t throw it away here.
The driver told the deputy
An Alexander County Deputy pulled a car over on I-57 about 2 miles north of the Missouri State line. When the Deputy asked the driver why he was speeding, the driver answered that he was a magician and a juggler and he was on his way to Branson to do a show that night and didn’t want to be late. The deputy told the driver he was fascinated by juggling, and if the driver would do a little juggling for him that he wouldn’t give him a ticket. The driver told the deputy that he had sent all of his equipment on ahead and didn’t have anything to juggle.
Eating at a restaurant is a business transaction like any other
We’ve eaten and drunk our way through commodities(商品,日用品) that don’t come for free, enjoyed (or endured) the service of a host of employees, both front of house and behind the scenes–yet for some reason we find the idea of paying for it all excruciating(极痛苦的,折磨人的).Every one of us, at some time or another, have found ourselves embroiled(使卷入,牵连) in a heated, yet determinedly "jovial" argument on the arrival of the bill–"No, no, NO – let ME!" we screech through fixed grins, as we claw at the offending scrap of paper.
I was stationed aboard the naval amphibious ship
During the Persian Gulf War, I was stationed aboard the naval amphibious ship USS Nassau. As a senior Marine intelligence analyst, my workdays were routinely twelve to sixteen hours long. Like all the veterans, we looked forward to receiving mail from home.Unlike the Vietnam War, the Gulf War found support among most Americans. As a result, we soldiers received an enormous amount of "To any service member" mail from the States.
I'll go to the studio
Doris and Fred had started their retirement years and decided to raise some extra cash by advertising for a lodger in their terrace house. After a few days, a young, attractive woman applied for the room and explained that she was a model working in a nearby city center studio for a few weeks. She said she would like the room from Mondays to Thursdays but would pay for the whole week. Doris showed her the house, and they agreed to start straight away. “There’s just one problem,” explained the model.
About that coat you wanted me to send you
DEAR REDNECK SON, I’m writing this letter slow because I know you can’t read fast. We don’t live where we did when you left home. Your dad read in the newspaper that most accidents happen within 20 miles from home, so we moved. I won’t be able to send you the address because the last Arkansas family that lived here took the house numbers when they moved so they wouldn’t have to change their address. This place is really nice. It even has a washing machine. I’m not sure it works so well though. Last week I put a load in and pulled the chain and haven’t seen them since.

Many people believe that parenting begins with birth, but the mother begins raising and nurturing a child well before birth. Scientific evidence indicates that from the fifth month on, the unborn baby is able to hear sound, be aware of motion, and possibly exhibit short-term memory. Thanks. Regards, help for teenagers
I was wondering where all the money for the students is actually spent? Are
the teachers given resources to properly provide the best learning
environment for the students? Is the course material updated like advertised?
You claim to provide the best education and small classroom sizes if i was to
stop in today would i find this to be true?
There are several things that I would improve about the current Imagine school policies, but overall I am very happy.
I honestly, cannot stand the Arizona education standards. My child excelled in another state and when coming here we checked out three other schools before deciding on Imagine. For the most part, I think it was a good decision. There are bullies anywhere you go and you must teach your children how to deal with them. The education standards are not up to my expectations, so I supplement my child’s schoolwork with extra puzzles, games, quizzes, etc. I absolutely despise the uniform policy. I wish that the kids could wear any color polo shirts as long as the logo was in place. The current four colors are overly repeated and lack creativity. I also, do not like the fact that the teachers do not communicate with you unless you track them down and make the effort. There should be a daily or atleast a weekly communication dialog between the teachers and parents. This would be so easy to do since they have the website that you can log into to check grades and cafeteria money.
If you think your child will do better at another school then it is your right and responsibility to enroll them and give them every opportunity to succeed. Please don’t use the schools as a babysitter, though. I don’t even mind the expensive entry fees for clubs and sports because most of the schools do not even offer such activities. I do wish that they had more to offer to the younger kids (K-4th). Finally, I think that the state of Arizona is so overwhelmed with the retired population, that it has forgotten about its future, the children and grandchildren (hence the Special election for Proposition 100).
I do wish that the parents and schools had more cohesion. Where we lived before, the education system was the #1 priority for the government, staff and parents, but it doesn’t seem as if there is a lot of support for our children’s future here.
My daughter became a student at Imagine in Jan. after being homeschooled all
of her life. She was welcomed on the very first day and has excelled. She
enjoys her teachers, her new friends, and is very glad to be there. She has
seen no signs of bullying but that is a serious offense and I do hope it is
handled professionally. I met a lady whose ADHD son was failing at Apache and
SV middle schools. She put him at Imagine and he absolutely loved it and
looked forward to school. His teachers made sure he understood all the
material and worked with him each day. She wishes Imagine had a high school,
as he had to withdraw from the 9th grade and may not find a good school that
will meet his needs. Thank you Imagine staff and Dr. Snyder.
One of the very few areas that I have been unhappy about with this school is the ever changing uniform policies.
I spent several hundred dollars outfitting my daughters with the required uniforms before the start of school, and followed their uniform guidelines to a tee.
Weeks after school started, one of my daughters teachers began to complain that her shirts had "scalloped" sleeves. I’m a guy, I don’t even know what that means. I called the school, and read them the policies, and they agree that I was in the right.
Now mid-year they have changed the uniform policy again to reflect that shirts need to have to school logo on them. I can either spend a few hundred bucks more, or spend about 100 bucks and have the shirts embroidered with the logo… but of course it takes 2-3 weeks to have them done, so my girls are very short handed on uniform shirts until the first batch gets completed.
I really like Imagine, but they need to get their act together on these uniforms and quit hitting parents with surprise expenses. It’s pretty hard to swallow the costs of several after-school activities, new uniforms, and constant school supplies when the school keeps changing it’s mind about what they have to have.
A little consistency would go a long way here.
THIS SCHOOL IS A JOKE. I PULLED MY CHILDREN THIS MORNING FROM THE SCHOOL, AND
FILLED CHARGES AGAINST THE STAFF AND STUDENTS WHO BULLIED MY SON. MY SON WAS
HIT IN THE HEAD BY A BULLY AGAIN YESTERDAY AND NOTHING WAS DONE. HE HAS A
SEIZURE DISORDER THAT THE SCHOOL IS AWARE OF. MANY OTHER PARENTS ARE NOW
JOINING ME TO ENSURE THAT THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. A HANDFUL AT LEAST OF
PARENTS HAVE ALSO PULLED THEIR CHILDREN FROM THIS SCHOOL THE LAST FEW DAYS.
THIS HAS TO BE STOPPED.
I pulled my son out at the same time another student was being pulled for being bullied. The parents went in and talked to the teacher numerous times and in the last meeting when the parents made suggestions of what needs to happen, the teacher said “ultimatly it is going to be how I handle it” Meaning “I am not going to do anything” You cannot go to the principle, without resolving it with the teacher first. This first grade teacher had no control over her class. I spent time in that classroom and she would guilt the kids by saying “oh I am sad today, cause you guys are being bad.” Once she put her head on the desk and pretended to cry saying “I can’t be a teacher, cause you guys are being soooo bad” No control over the class. She would ask me to come in and help all the time cause the kids were not listening. When I voiced my concerns to her and the principle I was told that I was not aloud in the class anymore. That was the last straw. My daughter on the other hand was in a kinder class that started with 36 kids. (Imagine advertised small class sizes) On top of it there were no aids for either kinder. The teachers went to Dr. Snyder and told him that they were overwhelmed. His response was that he would hire one aid and they could share. The kinder teachers never got an aid. The teacher in my daughters class was frustrated because she could not devote time to those kids needing extra help. I would go in almost everyday to help out. I read to the kids so she could have time to do folders and notes to send home. Can you imagine even twenty six kinders in one room with one adult, whom can’t go to the bathroom or have a break cause they are not aloud to leave their rooms un-supervised. They had the bus drivers cleaning the bathrooms once a week. The bathrooms were terrible. 150 students in one girls and one boys bathroom, cleaned one time. Not good. Then they would clean the bathrooms during school time and if one of the kids had to go it was “no, they are cleaning it” It took 4 hours sometimes. In one of the classes the students got three tickets for the week. You had to give a ticket to go to the bathroom and once you were out that was it. Oh you could barrow a ticket from your friend. Well this was in the upper grade level. My friends daughter had started her mestual cycle and needed to go to the bathroom more than three times in a week. The mother went to the school to talk to them about this problem, and was told that this was the policy and they were not going to allow any special things for her daughter. Another parents daughter had a documented medical problem of active bladder and she was told the same thing. I would just be careful and check into things and find out policy and if they are following their own policy’s.
All parents need to be aware of this school. I believed highly in this school. The kindergarden teacher my son had was wonderful. Then he went to first grade, and my daughter had the same kinder teacher. I was a strong advocate for this school. Volunteered alot of hours. When I began to question things in the 1st grade class, it became an issue. I pulled my son immediatley and put him at a public school. I was informed by the principle of the public not to be surprised if my child was behind. Sure enough he was way behind. How is that he was on honor roll at Imagine and now he is behind. I spoke to one of the teachers personally and this teacher told me that they are not on the same state standards as public. This teacher also told me “if I had kids, I would not send my child to this school” The majority of teachers are new teachers who need to have experience before being hired at public. This certain teacher was “doing her time” to get out quickly. Have your kids test at a public school. Quite a few kids were pulled when I pulled mine and all of them were behind, some by a grade level. This is coming from a parent who thought these charter schools were better. I am apalled that we have these schools in our community and they are not required to follow the standards. Read for yourself. This is your childs future.
As a former parent and former employee of Imagine Charter School, I have to
say something in the schools defense. It is a known fact that in order to
teach at Imagine Charter School you have to be certified by the state. What
this means is… the teachers must take a state given test and pass it. If
they do not pass this test, then they cannot teach until they receive their
certification. With that being said, all the teachers there are highly
quailified teachers. The Charter schools system operates the same as the
public school, they also have to go by Arizona State Standards. Some Charter
schools choose to go above the standards, which Imagine did, and some chose
to stay at the standards. it all boils down to this. We as parents HAVE TO
reinforce what is being taught in school. Regardless of if its a Charter or a
Public, it is untimately up to us to keep our children at grade level. We
tend to use the teachers as babysitters and don’t reinforce what is taught at
school when the students get home, so it is ridiculous to bash a school for
what we are not helping them to do. Before talking bad about a school or
teacher, lets take a look at ourselves first and then move on. THIS IS OUR
CHILDRENS FUTURE. WE SHOULD HELP IN TEACHING THEM. HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY.
I agree that our childrens future is up to us and their education. But I don’t agree that we need to make sure the teachers are teaching at the state standards. How am I as a parent to know what state standared is? Why would I question it? This is a school that is in my community, it has to be accredited? What a buch of crap. My son started school there is kinder. My first child to go to school. As a parent I was happy, I absolutly adored his teacher. I was so happy to know that he made honor roll in Kinder! (didn’t know they did that, but cool) I am thinking wow. My son moves on now to 1st grade and my daughter starts kinder. I am one pleased mommy. I am very involved in my childs education. I am volunteering hours of my time to this school and in the classroom. Four months into the new year a problem is developing in the first grade class. I try to work it out with teacher and the wonderful, attentive principle (this is said sarcasticly). Its not going to be resolved, I pull my son out and place him public. I am told by the principle of this school "Don’t be surprsed if you son is behind. I have had four students come in, in the last month and they are all behind, one a full year!" I am no worried after all my son was on honor roll at Imagine. Guess what, my son is testing as if he is in Kinder for six month. I am furious. I inform other parents and they take their kids out and guess what? All behind. My question in all of this: How as a parent of first time school age children am I supposed to know what is up to standard. After being rudely treated by Dr. Snyder, and was told I was no longer aloud to volunteer in my daughters classroom or even do a check up. I pulled her right then and their. Even though Dr. Snyder had a meeting with her teacher before he banned me. The teacher told him that I was an asset to the class, I helped her out tramendously. I feel as though she depended on me. After all Imagine bosts small class sizes and this kinder class started with 36. On top of it no aides to help. You tell me how much one teacher can do with 36 five year olds? When we left in Oct it was down to 26 with both kinder teachers asking for an aide. They were told that they would get one aide to share. I am pretty sure that they never did. Tell me how we are supposed to know what is "standared"
I agree that the school needs to be proactive in combatting bullies, but I don’t think you can blame the school for a problem created by a student.
My daughters have complained about bullies as well. One of them comes home nearly daily saying a boy threatened to "kill me". And when they’ve talked to the teachers, nothing is done.
However, when my daughters have gone to Dr. Snyder, he’s been very active in dealing with the problem. Several other teaches have been active as well. I’m sure, like any school, there is a handful of teachers who have the "kids will be kids" attitude, but you can not blame the entire school and the entire staff for the lack of caring by the minority.
I’m sorry, but I disagree with you completely on this issue.
I have seen the teachers of this school go above and beyond for my daughters. It has nearly brought tears to my eyes seeing how far they go to not only ensure the safety of our kids, but their happiness as well, which isn’t the school’s job at all.
You’ve had bad experiences. I have bad experiences with the school. I’ve also had some very good ones, and I can tell you now, I wouldn’t want my girls in any other school at this time.
While I tend to complain online about the things I don’t like (uniform policies and high athletic fees) I also don’t want people to think I dislike the school. They have done a wonderful job by me, and I salute their ongoing efforts.
I am sorry your child had the problems he had, but I still support this staff.
Glad to here Dr. Snyder is helping you, he must like you. Cause nothing was done for my family. In fact when I went in to discuss a problem, instead of fixing it he banned me from volunteering. I was polite, not hostile or anything. Maybe he gets it now, after a dozen kids left after this incident.
We understand that there have been some changes to the uniform policy from
prior years and appreciate your efforts to adhear to the uniform policy.
Students were informed at the begining of the school year that in January the
logos would be required on uniform shirts. We hoped this would give parents
time to begin slowly purchasing shirts or having them embroidered before the
policy was offically put into place. To help parents in these efforts we had
purchased shirts and put them on sale since August in the front office. We
have also offered a more personalized and less expensive solution by having
pre-purchased shirts emboridered for $4. This has been a huge success with
familes who purchased uniforms before the school year. We do understand that
it takes a couple weeks to have embroidered shirts shipped and appreciate
your patience.
