TUCSON — On Wednesday, the Bisbee Copper Kings’ preseason goal of making it all the way to the National Baseball Congress World Series went up in smoke on account of a scheduling snafu.

The team pulled out of the Pacific Southwest Baseball League Tournament, which qualifies its champion for the national tournament in Wichita, Kan., because its Centennial Plus-One game set for Aug. 1 at Warren Ballpark against the Tucson Toros conflicted with the start of the NBC tournament.
