BISBEE — Dominic Gamboa does not occupy bases. He’s constantly seeking to conquer the next.
This was evident in Friday night’s Bisbee Copper Kings season opener when he came sprinting down the baseline, screaming, “don’t swing! Don’t swing!” even as the Tucson Outlaws pitcher was still in his windup.
The batter stepped back to let Gamboa dive home with what he figured to be his 10th steal of home since his first collegiate game.
