Bowling update: Growing young bowlers at Desert Lanes
FORT HUACHUCA — Many people say league bowling is a dying sport, but don’t tell that to Ernie Benjamin, Youth Director for the Copper Counties Bowling Association. He passionately believes that young people are the future of the sport.
“Bowling is not as popular as baseball, football and basketball, but there is a future for those that want to advance to the best,” Benjamin said.

It’s been 2 years since I’ve been there, but when I was it needed some major
work. It was very dirty, lanes breaking down a lot. It was not worth the
money. It seems like more money is spent on the golf course. Hopefully, a
bowling alley will be in town. The one on post is hard to get to if you have
no car. Plus the hassle of just getting on post.
