Protesters barking up wrong tree

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly versionSend to friendSend to friend

As in years past, a group of people came to Sierra Vista to protest torture being “taught” on Fort Huachuca.

The number of protesters this year, however, was down from
the past.

Could it be that some of them have finally figured out Fort Huachuca and, indeed, the U.S. Army does not teach torture techniques?

With the torture line running out of steam, the protesters added the use of unmanned aerial systems to their list of concerns.

You know what’s even worse than torture? Terrorism. I say if we can get
useful information out of these people that can save the lives of American
soldiers and civilians, then we haven’t gone far enough. Oh boo boo…
waterboarding scares them and makes them think they are drowning. So what? I
say we drown a few and see if their buddies want to talk then. War isn’t
supposed to be friendly, and neither is interrogation. One day it may be your
loved one that dies at their hands. Let’s see you cry about human rights
 then.

The protesters that fly the American flag at the gate are nothing more than
Hippocrates. Look, what does it take to wake up the American public?
Thousands of American innocent lives were lost that were just trying to make
a living and harming no one. So what if torture is what it takes to get to
the point…So be it. Protesters ought to shut up and wake up and smell the
coffee. Maybe one of them might be on the next plane that is hijacked and
crashes into a building. Then what???

IgnorantEditors... on Thu, 11/19/2009 - 9:34am

…the editors might have bothered to listen to what I said from the stage at
Sunday’s rally: “Ft. Huachuca is also implicated in the rapidly expanding,
legally questionable and morally reprehensible use of remotely-piloted
aircraft, or drones, as a weapon of war. We’re told that currently the Army
only trains for the operation and maintenance of reconnaissance and
surveillance drones at Ft. Huachuca. But we also know that the Army plans to
weaponize some of these same drones.” Drone attacks have killed many more
innocent civilians in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and elsewhere, than alleged
terrorists. The U.N. Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial Executions has asked
whether the use of drones in targeting terrorists to be killed constitutes
“arbitrary extrajudicial executions”. Drone warfare is hi-tech terrorism
from the sky, fit for cowards, not valorous soldiers. It’s not that
“people’s voices should not be heard”, the editors just don’t think they
should be reported accurately!

Tell you what: You convince the terrorists to stop blowing up hundreds of
innocent people every week and attacking innocent civilians in this and a
dozen other countries and we’ll stop hunting and killing them with drones.
Until then we will continue to improve our capabilities to kill them before
they kill any more of us. Deal?

…and you will find the long arm of the CIA behind every one of them. Phony
Islamic front groups with ties to CIA handlers, local police told to stand
down, etc. That little bit of ‘news’ never makes it to Fox or CNN or AP and
why is that? Who are these media outlets reporting on terrorist attacks to
begin with? DO SOME RESEARCH. They are owned and operated by military
contractors and Big Oil, both huge beneficiaries of the US War Machine. Why
should you trust media that is owned by the very agencies reaping
mega-profits from every piece of military hardware / software / maintenance
contract sold to ‘fight terrorism’? Is this the kind of ‘free press’ that
keeps Americans informed so we can make accurate decisions on important stuff
like whether or not to kill innocent people in their home countries? I beg
you to wake up to what we actually have in this country because we are
already deep into fascism. We don’t know it because MEDIA HAS A VESTED
INTEREST IN KEEPING YOU IN THE DARK.

Your post is ignorant. You talk about drones being fit for cowards. What
about taking over an airplane full of civilians and crashing them into
buildings? Don’t you think that is a cowardly way to fight a war? I guess you
are just an ignorant person to think that the US using our high tech weaponry
is the only cowards yet the terrorists love to use soft civilian targets all
the time. Idiots like you are just plain misinformed and you love spreading
that misinformation as much as you can.

I’m not even going to get into it with you over drone attacks killing
innocent civillians who fail to provide information of the terrorists that
live in their mists. However, it will challenge you on “Drone warfare is
hi-tech terrorism from the sky, fit for cowards, not valorous soldiers”!
IED’s are laid by cowards to explode at a later time to maime and kill
whoever happens to hit them if they are not remote control triggered. They
kill innocents of fellow country men, women, and children not only soldiers.
Why stop at protesting drone warfare (even though by your own admission it
has not begun yet), are you protesting weaponized fighter jets, surface to
air missles? Or are you okay with killing others as long as our soldiers do
it hand-to-hand combat style, because I have news for you, the other side
doesn’t engage is these types of battles~ they prefer crashing airliners into
financial buildings and don’t need weaponized drones at all!

…..oh, that’s right, they’re in SOMEBODY ELSE’S COUNTRY!! I almost forgot.
You had me going there Playdeebug! Could it be that maybe, just maybe, these
people (YES PEOPLE, IMAGINE THAT!) in these far-off Mid- and Far-Eastern
nations are sick to death of the world-famous
US-Military-Empire-of-Eternal-Occupation-That-Never-Goes-Away-Even-If-You-ASK-NICE??
That maybe, just maybe, these people (oh there’s that annoying term again,
sorry I mean terrorist scum) would like to be LEFT ALONE and have their
countries back so they can get back to whatever is left of life for them
after all their infrastructure has been destroyed, their soils are laced with
depleted uranium, their families are uprooted, shattered, many killed,
wounded, sick or filled with the most devastating disease of all: HATRED and
a never-to-be-forgotten need to retaliate against the brutal terrorizing
force which is called… America. 911?11 guys with boxcutters? CONGRATS, you
fell for the OH-FISH-EL story! Google WTC 7.

You forget Auntie Tryanny, these people have been fighting before the US was
even a country! They have been claiming each other’s tribal lands and killing
over religous feuds for thousands of years, the weapons have only gotten more
sophisticated. If you haven’t noticed, they had been placing land mines all
over their own countrysides killing their own country men well before we ever
got involved both in and out of the big oil regions. I don’t pretend to
understand all of their cultures, but WE did not teach HATERED~ they have
been doing that well enough on their own for a VERY LONG TIME! The US could
leave their countries, however who will up for the women and children left
voiceless in their male dominated societies? You speak with such rightous
rage, yet you would be one of the first silenced if you were in the Middle
East for your mere gender, how easy to deny others the freedoms you have
based of the convience of birth location.

…to bomb them to smithereens, kidnap thousands of people from their own
streets, rendition them to ‘black Gitmos’ for ‘interrogation, lock them up
indefinitely WITHOUT TRIAL, torture them or their family members or kill them
outright! And while we’re at it, we can destroy every shred of infrastructure
and lace their soils with depleted uranium which never goes away! What a
great deal! Google babies in Fallujah. You have a big tender heart,
Playdeebug, I beg you to look into this issue from sources other than
mainstream media.
