Keeping meetings open
Tue, 10/27/2009 - 1:43am
Generally speaking, most area government officials try to abide by and follow the open meeting laws of Arizona.
However, as in a recent case in Tombstone, officials can fail. And in the case of the Tombstone City Council, it appears they failed pretty miserably.
While the city’s Web site proclaims “Public attendance and participation are highly encouraged” at council meetings, just the opposite occurred when Michael Carrafa tried to address the Tombstone council on Oct. 13.

This Tombstone council case seems to be the board vs. Carrafa. This kinds of
issues have been seen in HC for the past number of years and are nothing more
than two parties going at each other on every little issue. All this kind of
behavior does is hurt the town, because the real issues are not being dealt
with while the arguing is going on.
