Little outcry from Bisbee residents on civil union ordinance
BISBEE — As the Bisbee city council prepares to pass a new ordinance that will recognize same-sex civil unions on Tuesday, constituents have been relatively silent.
In an interview Friday, Councilwoman Shirley Doughty who represents Ward 3, the San Jose District, said, “I’m surprised that my constituents have not contacted me about this issue. It’s seems to me to be very unusual. I have talked to people who attend the churches in the community, and it seems they are not that concerned since this is only about civil unions and not marriage.”
