Little outcry from Bisbee residents on civil union ordinance

BISBEE — As the Bisbee city council prepares to pass a new ordinance that will recognize same-sex civil unions on Tuesday, constituents have been relatively silent. 

In an interview Friday, Councilwoman Shirley Doughty who represents Ward 3, the San Jose District, said, “I’m surprised that my constituents have not contacted me about this issue. It’s seems to me to be very unusual. I have talked to people who attend the churches in the community, and it seems they are not that concerned since this is only about civil unions and not marriage.”

Live and Let Live…. One might speculate many residents have come to the
realization Civil Unions/Gay Marriages are harmless for those of a different
orientation. My life has never been adversely affected by Gay Relationships.
The same can not be said for the effects of Greedy Corporate America,
pollution, wars, dishonest leaders, pedophile clergy, drunk drivers …
