SBDC offers free business planning workshop for food producers





SIERRA VISTA — Business planning is important for farmers market vendors of all shapes and sizes, from small-scale backyard growers to established farmers and ranchers.  

Join the Cochise College Small Business Development Center for a free workshop, “Business Planning for Local Food Producers and Farmers Market Vendors,” sponsored by Baja Arizona Sustainable Agriculture. The four-hour session is from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. March 20 in room 900 at the college’s Sierra Vista Campus.

Attendees will learn how to develop business goals and objectives, define an audience and customers, determine marketing and sales strategies, explain product uniqueness, and implement a financial management system.

A well-written and thoughtful business plan can help food producers understand their current productivity or help expand their operation, including successfully applying for loans. This class is open to the public, as well as local food vendors. Business planning workbooks will be given to participants.
