Oil in Cochise County? Investor hope it's so
BISBEE — The Bisbee/Douglas International Airport is attracting interest from Douglas and from Gusher State, LLC, registered with the Arizona Corporation Commission, which both want to lease and develop the old World War II airport, though in different ways.
During a work session Tuesday, Carl Rice, representing Gusher State LLC as a land researcher, told Cochise County Board of Supervisors members Ann English, Richard Searle and Pat Call that the company has been leasing mineral rights at the rate of $1 per acre per year of properties along Hwy. 191 from Elfrida to Douglas. BDI’s 2,640 acres sits in the area where the company plans to begin oil and/or gas exploration.
