SV school district urges parents to keep sick students at home

In light of the severity of flu activity, the Sierra Vista Unified School District issued a release Friday asking that sick students stay at home.

“We want to do our best to keep out students and staff healthy,” the release said. “Any child with a temperature of over 100 degrees will be sequestered and their parents will be called to pick them up. They will not be allowed back to school unless they have been fever-free for 24 hours without medication.”

The district encourages parents and students to take common sense precautions at home, just like those taken at the schools.

“These include washing your hands, not touching you eyes, nose or mouth, and trying to make sure you get enough sleep,” The release states.

It’s sad that a common sense article has to be published. I hate when
coworkers come to work sick. You are not a hero or “tough” — no one is proud
of you for coming to work sick. It’s rude, selfish and disgusting and no one
wants to be around sick people. In addition, school is not your babysitter.
Keep your sick kids at home!!
