Hellard gets new trial date

BISBEE — A man who allegedly fatally shot his wife in Mescal in April 2009 will get a new trial in April in Cochise County Superior Court.   Alger Frederick Hellard, 46, was convicted of manslaughter of Tammy Hellard, 35, at a jury trial in January 2011. He was acquitted of reckless endangerment of their daughter, who was 23 months old at the time. He was sentenced to 10 1/2 years in prison in February 2011 in Division 3 of Superior Court in Bisbee.   In May, Division 2 of the Arizona Court of Appeals reversed his conviction and sentence, and remanded the case to the trial court for further proceedings.
