Conviction follows New Year's shootings

BISBEE — A man will get sentenced on Jan. 31 after being convicted in Cochise County Superior Court of shooting two men south of Bisbee on Jan. 1.Adolfo Noel Ruiz Jr. was charged with attempting to cause the death of Chris Rogers and Mauro Moreno without premeditation, as well as three counts of aggravated assault. He was found guilty of two counts of attempted manslaughter and one count of aggravated assault. He was acquitted of two other counts of aggravated assault. His jury trial took place last week in Division 3 court and it concluded on Friday, when jurors reached the verdicts. The shooting occurred at about 1 a.m. at the LaRamada Bar off of Naco Highway.
