DOUGLAS — This year’s 88th annual fair kicked off with recognition of one of the co-sponsors of the event, the Arizona Community Foundation Southeast Region. Carol Sanger, foundation board member, presented the fair association with a check for $1,000 before cutting the ribbon to officially open the fair Thursday evening.

"I’ve been on the board for five years and it is truly rewarding," said Sanger. "The idea is to open people up to the idea of looking at their commnunities like they look at the chidren. We want to enrich the lives of our children and we should enrich the lives of the people in our communities as well. The donations we receive go back into the communities as investments in the future."
