BISBEE  — Two dogs suspected of killing a miniature horse have been taken into custody by the Cochise County Animal Control office, Sheriff spokeswoman Carol Capas said Friday morning.

They were turned over by their owner,  Capas said, who did not identify the owner.

However, the owner of the dogs “lived about two blocks” from the property where the rescued stallion named Spirit was  killed, she said. Animal Control Officer Lori Nichols-Wright made contact with the dogs’ owner and based on evidence she had, the dogs were surrendered to her, Capas said.

This horse being attacked and killed is bad enough, but it could have been
worse if it had been children.

Title: sorry

So very sorry. What a horrible death for the poor horse, and a horrible find
for the family.

Agreed. It is sad all the way around for all the parties involved. I feel for
Spirits owner and for the owners of the dogs who will have to put their dogs
down. (if thats what the investigation leads to)
