ELECTION 2012: Four GOP candidates for U.S. Senate meet the 1200 club

SIERRA VISTA — If there is one thing the four Republican candidates for U.S. Senate see as vital to the nation, it is that the GOP must win the Senate, take the White House and keep control of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Then the drive to the nation’s economic recovery will begin, the quartet told more than 100 people at a 1200 Club dinner Friday night.

However, during the forum, when Clair Van Steenwyk said he has “ … no regards for (Arizona U.S. Senators) Mr. McCain or Mr. Kyl,” Jeff Flake, a sitting congressman said, “I can’t let you defile McCain and Kyl.”

Van Steenwyk’s comment was met with an audible gasp and head-shaking of disbelief at the words he spoke.
