Group’s report alleges abuse by BP agents

BISBEE — The No More Deaths advocacy group is releasing a report today in Tucson called “A Culture of Cruelty” that alleges abuse by U.S. Border Patrol agents of illegal immigrants apprehended in Arizona along the U.S.-Mexico border.

The information is based upon 4,130 interviews with 12,895 individuals who were in Border Patrol custody from Fall 2008 until Spring 2011, including 9,562 men, 2,147 women, 533 teenagers aged 13-18, and 268 children aged 12 and under.

Sorry, I wouldn’t trust this group as far as I could throw them. I do think that all BP activity should be videotaped because of continuous accusations, most probably spurious. Additionally, reinterview anyone making charges with a polygraph.

Title: Bull

Can’t believe a word what No More Deaths, nor what Lumer says. Agents are constantly giving aid and saving the illegals.

Title: Sad

Sadly, there are some bad folks who work at the border patrol. I know many are good, decent people who do a good job, but a few are not.

I have seen some of the repatriated people in Agua Prieta, in Naco, and in Nogales and have been witness to some of their claims of abuse. I have seen people returned to Mexico who were in desperate need of medical treatment. I’m not saying the border patrol or US hospitals have to treat these people, but at the least they should be delivered to a clinic or hospital in Mexico.

This is a serious situation, and I hope by showing the problem, the problem will be resolved.

Enough already!!  Let’s put the responsibility for illegal’s entering the country where it rightly belongs.  If the illegal aliens didn’t come here ILLEGALLY, they would not suffer at all.  Why isn’t the Mexican government held responsible for not providing for their people?  The group that wrote this article needs to go into Mexico and protest to them how Mexican nationals are being treated.  The American people suffer at the hands of illegal aliens when they commit crimes such as murder, assaults, drunk driving, drug smuggling, human traffiking?  How about all the ecological damage the illegal’s commit at the border as they are trying to enter the U.S. illegallly?  I have assistend in picking up tons of trash left by the illegal aliens along our border, I have friends that have been assaulted and their car stolen by illegal aliens.  I do not believe for an instant that the illegal aliens are being mistreated by Border Patrol.  The illegal aliens will place the blame on the U.S. government because they can, they are disgruntled and the Mexican government does not listen to them.  They need to stay in Mexico and fix their government.  I encourage these groups, like Amnesty International, the Hispanic Caucus, Derechos Humanos, etc. to protest the treatment of Mexicans and other illegal aliens and lodge their complaints with the Mexican Government.    Enough already!!

Of course they’re going to say this, that’s where the money is.  It can’t be the illegals are lying, it has to be the border patrol agents are cruel to them.  Shame on Border Patrol for trying to keep them out of our country!

This is a money grab, pure and simple.  This group is simply trying to force the government to stop enforcement and, hey, our government already has.

And, sorry, but something’s wrong with their study.  If they had talked to over 12,000 people, wouldn’t they have more than 12,000 surveys?  And I don’t know the study results shouldn’t have been called "A culture of lawlessness and illegal entry into a country".  They’re the ones breaking the law, not Border Patrol.

If these groups put as much effort into fixing the problems of Mexico as they put into discrediting our country, it’s laws and our attempts at enforcement imagine what a nice place Mexico would be?

Auntie Em:  "I have seen some of the repatriated people in Agua Prieta, in Naco, and in Nogales and have been witness to some of their CLAIMS of abuse"

You have witnessed CLAIMS.  I am so glad that you believe these fine respectable people who violate the law.  There are methods to file legitimate claims and illegals have access to that.  These are allegations and if I came here and published allegations and CLAIMS about you that were nothing but heresay, I daresay you would haul me into court fairly quickly right?  But you seem to have no problem taking these accusations at face value.

You are always one of the people here who ALWAYS states that you know there are good agents, BUT..right before you begin bashing the Border Patrol.  Don’t pretend you support them and be passive-aggressive.  Just come right out and admit it, you dislike them and enjoy furthering rumors of things you cannot prove.

The Border Patrol trains agents as EMTs and have several units that are out there solely to help illegals.  Funny how you fail to mention this or this group doesn’t mention the number of illegals that the BP help and save each year.  I promise you it is more than the fake number of accusations they are claiming.  Also, why on earth do you expect the US to pick up the tab and pay for the medical bills of people who willing injured themselves breaking the laws of the USA?  Auntie Em, would the Mexican government do that for someone who illegally went into their country?

Windsor on Wed, 09/21/2011 - 7:38am

Why do you publish UNFOUNDED rumors?  What happened to your journalistic integrity?  Can I make up stories of abuse and would you publish them?????

Title: Actually,

this story has inspired me to write a story about all the deaths, rapes, robberies and violence that US citizens have suffered at the hands of Illegal Aliens.  I am sure the Herald will be more than willing to give a report on my story and detail the FACTUAL accountings, with EVIDENCE to back it up of all the crimes that are inflicted on people in this country by people who are NOT supposed to be here.

Bogus report. Im sure the surveys they handed out were in no way swayed toward abuse allegations. Complete bull, lets see one off these surveys. I’m sure a person breaking the law would never have anything bad to say about the people that caught them. The people in this group are exactly whats wrong with this Country.

A local man I know won’t even go to Bisbee because he considers it filled with lunatic fringe leftist zealots.    Pretty extreme viewpoint, and flat out untrue about most of Bisbee most of the time, but sometimes it does make some sense. Like with this group, No More Deaths, claiming they have a survey proving the Border Patrol cultivates "A Culture of Cruelty."   Them conducting a survey is like a drug company sponsoring a survey on a controversial drug.   Guess what?  The drug is OK.  Guess what?  The Border Patrol is a Culture of Cruelty.  If you’re going to do a survey, you do it scientifically, with an independent organziation actually performing the survey.

Beyond that, with people being murdered in the streets all over Mexico, including right across our border, it is obscene for this No More Deaths group to focus on at best a scattering of minor incidents in the Border Patrol.  Let them drive the few miles down to Mexico and confront that culture and government about too many deaths.

We all know how that one would come out……

The really sick thing to consider is that this group, like other
anti-American, help the criminals commit more crimes groups, is that they’re
probably getting some of our tax dollars to continue doing what they do.

No group or business that isn’t part of our government or doesn’t have a
contract with our government for a valid legal service should ever get a
penny of our tax dollars or any kind of tax break or other preference.

Title: Please DO

Windsor, I would really love for you to write the other side of this story. I am so tired of hearing about the illegal immigrants and their rights. What rights? Now it is aimed at cruelty of our Border Patrol agents? I can’t even wrap my head around this. Please include some of the following points

1. The first point that needs to be made is these people need to stay and fight for their own country. Make it a better place instead of fleeing to here. They have some of the most beautiful land full of resources. Fight back against the drug cartels and crooked gov. It is up to them to make their country better same as we have done here.

2. The strain on our social systems because they lack the educational requirements to get a job.

3. The fact that they steal, and commit other crimes out of desperation etc.

4. The fact that they strain our education system by sending their children to school and we have to teach them English. We also have to spend extra time and manpower to get the older children caught up. Many citizens even have the idea that they will teach their children spanish and then let the schools teach them english. I have heard this from the horses mouth on several occasion.

Just to name a few…..

If there are in such need of medical care, and have been so abused and neglected, why not take them to a doctor in Naco, or Nogales- MEXICO and let them take care of their own and pay their own medical bills. I am sick and tired of people like you that sympothize with the criminals!!! I have my own family and children to care about, it’s their medical bills I care about. ANYONE that CHOOSES the break the law ANYWHERE does not deserve anything but PUNISHMENT in return. Especially if people obtain their needs for medical care during the commision of any crime. Quite frankley I am all for returning every illegal back to their Country of Origin without any medical treatment at all… If they die along the way, too bad they should;ve thought about that before they broke the law. If go out for a hike and I get hurt and have to be rescued.. I am going to have the pay the bill for that.. Why doesn’t everyone?? If I go to Mex

If we come up with a bogus "LIST" of grievences againt the Southern Law Group or the ACLU, would you publish that on page one as well? A great piece that aptly demonstrates all that is wrong with the liberal press today.
