Great effort by the Fort in defensive actions of fire suppression efforts. The article title is a little misleading or confusing. "Preparing" to battle fire is a reactive measure when a fire is approaching. Being "Prepared" would be proactive measures to be firewise having a defensive space around dwellings and installations such as the Fort, and a plan in case of evacuation. And evacuation can also apply to floods, hurricanes, tornados, mudslides, etc.

I can imagine, and only hope, that the Army and this community is now firewise in the physics of fire behavior and the measures needed to protect ones self and ones home or business from a wildfire.
