Rebutting Obama’s claims of security

BISBEE — This week, President Obama toured the Southwest, in part to promote what he claims are federal advances in border security. But he has said little about the lawsuits by his administration and the American Civil Liberties Union against Arizona’s immigration law, passed just over a year ago but still unenforced, thanks to a federal injunction.

Your comments are usually well informed..run for office.

I would never get elected; there are too many bleeding hearts that wouldn’t be able to handle some heavy handed legislation. Just on here I have been likened to Nazis on more than one occasion. It would be pretty fun to be a judge around here for a while though; I wouldn’t be tossing probation out and pretending that is some kind of real punishment.

The only thing that will secure the border is to arm our military and put them on the border with the appropriate ROE so they can utilize force to stop anyone crossing illegally. Add to that an immediate halt to the absurd lawsuits filed by illegals and their families against our men and women protecting out borders. Perhaps we should start cutting any type of aid to Mexico until they take an active role in keeping their citizens on their side of the border as well. Stop coddling illegals. Until our government takes decisive action that has real consequences we will continue to be under siege from this invasion.

I agree with Knight Rider’s comments.  Our federal government has not done enough to secure our border with Mexico. Our boder patrol members continue to get shot and killed while defending our borders.  Meanwhile we are defending other countries borders with our own USA troops when those countries don’t want us there and are killing our troops.  It’s time to bring our troops back and defend our own borders.

I saw sheriff Dever on national TV and people living on the border have a legitimate complaint about their ability to enjoy their property in safety.  If EVERYONE had the same experience their attitudes would reflect those of people whose homes and property are at risk.

The feds could easily fix this problem by changing the law so that the FIRST illegal crossing would be a felony offense instead of just a misdemeanor.  Then ALL those illegals picked up by law enforcement could be deported without all the hearings and bureaucratic bungling.  The same should apply for those overstaying their visas.

Our politicians are simply moaning and wringing their hands instead of doing what needs to be done.

Dever offers us nothing of substance “Rebutting Obama’s claims of
security”. Which is not surprising, since there is nothing: thanks largely to
the significant increases in people and technological resources devoted to
border security, crossings have gone way down, and apprehension rates have
gone up, over the last several years.

Similarly, when Dever is required by law to tell the truth, he drops his
fearmongering, and reports to the state and federal governments that our
crime rates are low, and declining.

The Herald should be required to report the costs of publishing this ad as a
political campaign contribution.

Seems to me that the Department of homeland security issued a Terror Watch
for the Texas Mexico Border. I guess you are considering the Terror Watch a
political campaign Contribution?

Crime rates have been declining and apprehensions are down dramatically.  Some of it has to do with fewer jobs and less growth in the construction industry.  http://www.idcide.com/citydata/az/sierra-vista.htm….

But why don’t you mention that it’s also to do with BP agents being told not to apprehend people as often and to just ignore them as they illegally inter the US? Or doesn’t the full truth do you any good? I know you only wish to see the parts you can twist to your perverted view, but sadly reality is something that nobody can totally like. Most of us have come to terms with that fact. Perhaps one day you will also.

IM4TRUTH on Tue, 05/17/2011 - 8:21pm
Title: Not true

Again mowedhawk you can not proove your comment about what was told to BP agents.  I have many friends and neighbors who I have asked this very question to, and every single one of them has told me that is nothing but a bald face lie. So why do you continue to mock the hard work of the BP agents and deny there is less of a problem today then there was two years ago? Face the facts. You have nothing to support your agenda of mocking the BP. …You have no facts, and base your opinions off of wild ideas. …
