SIERRA VISTA — Plans to set up a doctor’s office equipped with a medical marijuana dispensary will most likely go before the Huachuca City Planning and Zoning Commission once again before the issue is placed on the town council’s agenda, the commission chair said Monday.

The commission still has worries about the proposed position of the dispensary after considering the site plan for approval during its regular meeting last week, said Leonard Colwell.

Title: Why...

The story states “the dispensary would be located within 1,000 feet of the Cochise County Children’s Center if it were constructed south of the Dusk Till Dawn Cabaret.”… So that should be the end of it. It cannot be that close to the children’s center, so why is it even being considered? It sounds like if you have some cash to throw around then Huachuca City is the place to do your crooked business.

Title: Pre-Mature

The Arizona Department of Health Services have not even issued any licenses so any decision made by the H.C. Planning and Zoning Commission means nothing without the issuance of a license. The licenses will be awarded to a complete application in each of the Community Health Assessment Areas (CHAA’s) which also includes Sierra Vista. So there is a lot more applicants’ that are potentially going to apply and have the same opportunity as this applicant.

I agree with rickraton…if this applicant cannot even meet the requirements for his existing business, why would we think he would comply with the Medical Marijuana requirements. The difference is that if he doesn’t comply with all of these requirements, safety becomes even more of a concern with this type of business being a predominately cash business making it attractive to robberies…kind of scary for a small town.

Interesting to see bottom feeders strive to make money off the misory of others.  Huachuca City should be proud of itself.

This should be good. I think one could argue the fact that Huachuca City isn’t even a town, so why should they get a dispensary?

Well, the Town of Huachuca City is indeed a town. Complete with elected officials, a Town council, a Town Police Department, and a Town Fire Department and corporation limits..

I would love to see a couple of Doctors start servicing The Town of Huachuca City, even if they are close to a red building.

That’s OK, you can put it in my back yard. I’m old and live behind a gate in the community - but I’m down with having a dispensary here in H.C. And no, I don’t use the stuff either…

Besides a doctors office, we sure could use a grocery store, and a traffic light out there on Hwy 90 so we can access the road to get to town with all that traffic to and from the fort. And when are the LEO’s going to start enforcing the speed limit on that highway thru town?

aren’t the mary-jane stores restricted to major population areas IAW the new law?

If my memory serves me correctly. It was determined that the Cabaret did not have enough paved parking spaces for the business. At that time the owners of the club told the city that they needed time to save up enough money to provide them. Yet, somehow they can come up with 2 million dollars to dispense pot. I can here the howling already.  The residents have learned to laugh at themselves, but this might  bring an earthquake of guffaws. Check out the ridiculous exit from 92 for starters. No one, not even those that designed it know who has the right of way.
