SIERRA VISTA — After about a year of picketing outside of the Sierra Vista Regional Health Center nearly every day, local residents who protested against the hospital’s agreement with Catholic-based Carondelet Health Network were thrilled to celebrate its recent termination during a small rally on Saturday.

Title: Who wins?

"With the agreement terminated, procedures like sterilization, which were not allowed under the Catholic-based Ethical Religious Doctrines, are allowed again at the hospital." Is winning the enablement to choose by one party denying a choice by the other?

Yeah, it is funny the group has brainwashed themselves to believe they were the reason for the decision.  Further, most of all the women protesting are already sterile by nature due to their age (elderly) so it sure is odd they chose that as the excuse to protest, which may mean they really opposed the religious aspect. In the end, it is probably a loss for the hospital and the area, as if you need and want better hospital care, Tucson is close enough and you can choose whichever hospital you want, and often the hospital must send you there anyways.

Regarding Hospital Care, Reproductive Rights & End-of-Life Decisions in my community: Thank you for making it possible for ME to be able to receive Standard of Care locally and, once again, for the ability to choose!

Other than murdering babies, which SVRHC didn’t preform before, what other that sterilization was your objection?

End of life care would have been unchanged, as Hospice was developed by Catholics.

So what exactly was it you actually objectred to? Do you even know?

Was it just the Catholic affiliation?

In the end, this is the best outcome, regardless of how the decision was made. Time to move on.

what farce. If the reporting is accurate, the protestors had nothing to do with the decision, I guess its harmless to let them delude themselves about that.  I did like the fact that this was NOT a local grassroots effort, they had professional agitators from NY come in to help out. Politically motivated, and with a whole lot of empty rhetoric (still waiting for the lawsuits etc from those whose lives were impacted over the temporary partneship).  For a city of 43K, we’ve got more than our fair share of dolts.

because of sterilization you let the majority to citizens loose much bigger benefits of more modern medicine come to Sierra Vista Hospital. And you think that is something to be proud of. Show how dumb people can be because of pride that they were not asked before making choices like this that is way too complicated to let the public decide. There is too many things to consider to explain it all so that is why you have a board to make these decisions. This is nothing to be proud of.

Title: Carondelet

Thank you, Dr. Silva, and all of the people who worked hard to defeat this merger.  No religious organization should be permitted to dictate health care policy.  You’ve done a major service for residents of Cochise County, and for anyone who might need hospital services.  Thank you, thank you.

Title: Oh YEAH!

HJackson, do we understand you correctly?

Are you saying: "Oh Yeah! It would be so much better, to totally lose the local hospital, rather than have it connected to a religious organization!"?

I believe I’d rather have the hospital.

Title: And what?

Another long, drawn-out article on the subject which provides no useful information to the reader. For instance, what were these people protesting about (specifics) in the first place? You’d have to be a mind reader to figure out what this whole issue was about if you weren’t an insider.
