SIERRA VISTA — More details about the events leading to the pursuit and shooting death of a 19-year-old Douglas man have come to light after the Douglas Police Department released a report on the incident
 Tuesday.

At about 12:10 p.m. on March 21, Douglas Police Officers were notified that an anonymous caller had reported a gold-colored Chevrolet Avalanche that had just been loaded with marijuana bundles on Van Buren Avenue before leaving the area eastbound on 8th Street, according to the report.

Why did they have to use deadly force? This kid was not shooting at them or endangering anyone when he was shot in the back? I think we need to rethink our policies. Legalize the stuff and get to patroling for real criminals. Like terrorist who are sneaking across the border left and right. This man is going to have to live with what he did. ….

The kid was foolish to be involved in drug running but did he deserve to die? No!!

There is an easy solution to a lot of the border violence… just decriminalize the drugs that are being trafficked in.

That, and start using our military to protect our borders instead of the borders of Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, or Pakistan.  But I guess there’s no oil in Southern Arizona…

Unless you’ve carried a weapon in defense of this country, you’ve got no business monday morning quarterbacking this situation.  As I see it, this kid WAS carrying drugs, WAS running from the law, and was an immediate threat.  Think about this, if one of those bricks had struck a LEO in the head and killed him, this kid would be charged with 1st degree murder!  That’s right, a murder committed during a felony becomes 1st degree and it doesn’t matter if you’re the one who pulled the trigger or hurled the rock.  So, as I see it, a US Border Patrol agent shot and killed a felon who was attempting to murder him.  At least that’s what I’m taking away from this with the information I have available to me.

Just one last thing. On the video of the event, the vehicles that are close to the ladder and the Avalanche are police cars, which didn’t get harrassed by rocks. The BP vehicles are all across the road on the dirt lot, 10 or 15 yards away. I’m not saying that a guy balancing on his tippytoes on a fence as wide as his thumb couldn’t heave a rock and break a windshield across the street but, when the video starts, LaMadrid is already shot, and, maybe I’m missing it but none of those BP trucks seems to have a busted windshield yet.

Let me see if I have this strait. By your line of thinking that you express in your last bit, I can shoot at you all day long and you cannot defend yourself unless I actually hit you or your vehicle?

Wow you could see that from that crappy video? I could barely tell they were BP vehicles and an ambulance.

You are either a friend or part of the criminal’s family or just extremely ignorant. It must be nice for you to be able to sit there and question how LEOs protect us all. This criminal was a drug runner/dealer and was also aiding and abetting an illegal. This community is better off with people like him off the streets and if you are too ignorant to see that then nothing any rational people say can change your warped view of reality.

Title: Wow

Your video of "the event" is nothing of the sort, the event is already well over (hence the Douglas ambulance and all the BP vehicles), stop trying to imply that it is otherwise. Are you really this ignorant or are you just trying to inflame people?

"it but none of those BP trucks seems to have a busted windshield yet."  You can’t see any windshields clearly at all, stop trying to imply that you can.

"10 or 15 yards away." LOL  You as poor of a judge of distance as you are video quality.

"a guy balancing on his tippytoes on a fence as wide as his thumb"  This guy has at least foot wide thumbs?  When you look at a picture of what the fence looks like you can see the top of it is angled inward.  Your tin foil hat has a hole in it.

Title: Wrong fence

The fence on the Mexican side is angled inward. Then there is ten feet or so of slope and concrete ditch. Then there is a another mesh fence that is very narrow at the top. On the other side of that is a two lane city road, all of the BP trucks are on the other side of the road on the dirt. The first part of the video, before the camera is shut off for a while, begins shortly after the shots were fired, according to the comments of the guys discussing it. The ambulances are not yet on the scene. When the camera starts back up, the Avalanche has been moved and the paramedics are showing up. The image is not the best, but it’s clear enough to see the windshields.

Title: Wrong again!

The fence is angled towards the US and there is not 10 feet of slope or concrete ditch in that section. There is not a secondary mesh fence there either. On the other side of that section is a dirt lot. you need to watch that video again and get your facts straight as to the fence, the area and all your other delusions. You must be dreaming you watched a video that showed all that say. Because you are wrong with everything you think you saw.
