FORT HUACHUCA — Concerns over quality and customer service at the Greely Hall cafeteria led to its closing on Thursday and Friday of last week, a spokesman for the Army & Air Force Exchange Service headquarters in Dallas said Tuesday.

Recently, there have been a number of complaints about the facility, which serves a number of people who work in Greely Hall, where the headquarters for the Network Enterprise Technology Command/9th Signal Command (Army) and other organizations are located.

Title: thats sad

i used to work at the greely hall diner, the employee(s) that wrote the comment on ripoffreport.com was not fired. they quit, and they didnt quit the day after they wrot the report, and they didnt quit the day after the email got foward. They put their two weeks in for personal reasons and it was not because of that diner. The diner allowed many single mom’s to have a job and take care of their child. the employees who wrote that report didnt want to lose their job but had no choice for personal reasons. the report was written, not to get anyone fired, or to harm anyone, it was written to warn the public about the food they were eating. not alot of people can say they are happy with their jobs or boss. many of the greely hall diners employess were the same but for the most part i learned a lot from that place. i learned great work ethics, minus the things that were wrong. the employees wrote those things because they wanted to change the diner into something better! everyone will focus on the negative things but what about the positive things. i enjoyed seeing all the same faces everyday. i met great people and made friends with my customers. the greely hall diner is a great place to work, and im sure its even better now. the employees did everything in their power to do the right thing. i feel extremly sorry for what has happened but the blaim should not be put on anyone.

by the way, some of the complaints were not valid. if you are going to complain about the place than dont lie, just say the truth. many customers were very satisfied and yet some werent… but what place doesnt have its bad and goods. i hope the best for the people who work in the greely hall and the diner. im sure things will get better!

I ate there about a year ago and vowed to never return. The food was overpriced and of such a quality I am not sure if it would have even been worth it at a lesser price. Depending where you work on base it could take a good 15-20 minutes just to get into Sierra Vista and even then the choices aren’t very good. I am a brown bagger myself and I find that I save money and always get what I want for lunch. If they ever decide to open somewhere decent to eat on the post I might try it out, but right now nothing is worth my money.

Knight Rider:  It has been many years since I retired and last ate at Greely Hall cafeteria.  Sounds like their quality has definitely slipped.  I would think there are other options besides going to Sierra Vista to eat.  Aren’t the fast food restaurants on post worth your attendance?  If not it appears that many things have changed since I last was on post.

Title: not good

I over heard a couple managers laughing about the reason for the latest markup of the food in the dining hall, it was said the customers who complained cut off their nose to spite their face because after updating the system for prices, the prices are set to be higher then before…that did it for me. I will pack a lunch or go downtown to eat. I refuse to eat there again…will starve first!!

Title: Confused

I don’t understand why it is taking so long for people to do the same as you.  This problem would have been fixed or marginalized had people first stop going there and then go to the commanding general of netcom and demand to have the problem fixed.  The general could have had those doors locked in minutes.  Is there anybody in that huge building willing to man up?  Or is it indicative of the leadership in the military now?

NETCOM doesn’t own Greely Hall, the Garrison Commander does.

And I wish I could afford to take 2 hour lunches to eat downtown, but I can’t, we’re stuck… because it’s obvious that AAFES doesn’t plan to remove the real problem.

They did remove the false advertising sign that indicated that they sold 1/3 lb burgers… my co-workers said they were 1/3 lb after the lettuce, onions, pickles, and bun were added.

In case you haven’t noticed there are a lot of other places to eat on the fort, so quit complaining. You would have more time to eat, it you didn’t waste so much commenting on here.

I just want to make sure I’m reading this right: An employee complains that there is a problem or problems at the Greely Hall Chow hall (which it seems this is true) and they are fired. We are told the trash cans have been updated and another poster here says this isn’t true (I tend to believe the poster as he has no reason to lie). We are told there are quality problems with the food that have been addressed and we then learn a patron was made ill by the food AFTER the "fix". We are told that the prices are going to become more competitive with the civilian restaurants which means the prices should have gone down. We learn THIS isn’t true. Give us lip service, harass, belittle and berate those in a position to make you aware of what needs fixing. Lie about what you’re doing. Yeah, that’s about right for both the fort and the government.

From what I understand the employee quit because they were reprimanded by aafes management for telling what was wrong on a website because they did nothing when employee approached them, instead they were labeled "disgruntled" and then subjected to harrassment …so yeah they forced the employee out.

aafes had the information but did NOTHING till we the consumers complained.

Instead of getting an apology from aafes their employees instead make comments on this post and draw battle lines..

Title: AAFES

The problem with restaurants on Fort Huachuca is they are run by AAFES, not a real vendor experienced in restaurant operations.  Years ago my son helped to open the Taco Johns but he quickly found out how those hired to be the managers were there because of some AAFES promotion system and not by having any experience in the restaurant business.   With the food courts at the PX and in Prosser Village, you still have most people driving into town for food or packing their lunches.  Remember this was the organization that opened a BBQ place but was closed at dinner time.  Instead of complaining to AAFES, these people needed to go straight to the General and have the dump closed immediately.
