Firefighter Tommy Rhoads collects donated toys on Wednedsay afternoon in the Sierra Vista Ace Hardware parking lot. Firefighters are especially interested in receiving gifts appropriate for children ages 8 to 17. If you’d like to donate a new, unopened toy or cash, you can go to any of the three fire stations, 1295 E. Fry Blvd., 4127 Avenida Cochise or 675 Giulio Cesare Ave.

Salvation Army has issued an emergency call for nonperishable holiday food donations as it prepares to distribute Christmas food boxes to local families in need. Needs include boxed stuffing mix, instant potatoes, canned sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy, boxed desserts and canned fruit. Donations can be taken to the Salvation Army Community Center, 156 E. Wilcox, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturdays.
