Members of the Cochise County High Desert Chili Pod recently conducted a sanctioned chili cook-off at the Sierra Vista Elks Lodge. First place went to Dimis Cebellos, second to Penny Dunn, third to Dick Seehusen, fourth to Ted Fichtl and fifth to Denise Cebellos. A certificate was also awarded to Sue and Dick Seehusen, who traveled the farthest to attend the cook-off. Above are Denise Dimis Cebellos, who took the top spot.

There will be a Day of the Dead Workshop from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Ecoasis, 54 Brewery Ave. in Bisbee. Cultural specialist Irma Varela will present a free workshop called “Symbolism and How to Create Your Own Ofrenda, Sugar Skulls and Cut Paper Flags.” Bring your own scissors (embroidery kind to facilitate cutting paper). The event is sponsored by the Mexican Consulate and Migrant Resource Center.
