Cochise County Humane Society wants you to know that canine parvovirus is a serious and highly contagious disease that is a major killer of dogs. The good news is that this is a very preventable disease. The easiest way to prevent the virus is through annual vaccinations. Veterinarians recommend that puppies get boosters every three weeks until they are 16 weeks old. Vaccinations are available in conjunction with a spay or neuter at one of the society’s monthly spay/neuter clinics. The September schedule for the low cost spay/neuter clinics: Whetstone, Sept.
