The Coronado National Forest is considering a request by a private firm for approval of a plan of operations to conduct a minerals exploration project. The proposed project area is located about 10 miles south of Sierra Vista.

Coronado National Forest officials have provided this description of the proposed action and invite your comments on the scope of the upcoming National Environmental Policy Act review of the proposal. The public’s response, they say, will play a vital role in their review.

The comment submissions require “Bear Canyon…” (Sabino Canyon area) in the
subject line. Maybe they mean Bear Creek near Sutherland Peak off Montezuma
Canyon Road? Unfortunately the topo maps were given away so can’t check the
forest road #s other than an Internet reference to FR 4831 in Oregon. This
just seems to be intentionally vague for whatever reason.

Mean ole me thinks if this goes ahead I hope they have plenty of
“interaction” with drug runners.

Could we get a better idea where this is being done?
