County cash may be lost to the state, officials fear

NOGALES — Santa Cruz County has balanced its 2010-2011 budget, but new threats loom this fall because the state budget is shaky, Craig Sullivan told Santa Cruz County supervisors recently.

When lawmakers come up short, they look for ways to shift costs to the counties, said Sullivan, executive director of the County Supervisors Association of Arizona. So CSA goes to bat for the 15 counties.

It’s going to be years before the state budget will be solvent,” Sullivan said.
