Friends and neighbors gather to visit and talk about native plants each week at Spadefoot Nursery’s booth at the Bisbee Farmers Market. This Saturday nursery man Peter Gierlach (in center) AKA “Petey Mesquitey” will do a Water Wise talk on local native plants starting at 9 a.m. at the booth. Also at 4 p.m., Professor Mesquitey will lead a walk around Old Bisbee’s downtown area and point out interesting plants, both native and exotic.

Get local nectarines at the backyard growers tables at the information booth as well as elephant garlic and giant gourds by Claudia Mobley. Also, Thai pepper plants along with Thai hot peppers, lemongrass, Thai basil and cilantro and plenty of advice on making Thai food from On Anderson as well as flowering patio plants.
Peaches, apricots, Ambrosia cantaloupe, yellow-meated and red watermelon, red okra, tomatoes, Zephyr squash and cucumbers from the market’s oldest farmer Leo Dunaetz.
