Benson lands grant to help with airport

BENSON — Improvements will be coming soon for the Benson Municipal Airport.

The Benson City Council this week unanimously accepted a grant from the Federal Aviation Administration for work to be done at the airport.

With the grant, the city costs for construction of a helipad and to rebuild the airport runway will be $12,225. Without the grant, it would cost the city $24,500.

Also at Monday’s meeting, the council approved a $44,181.99 purchase of a Vermeer Vac-tron vacuum excavation system.
