A self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head is what killed a 58-year-old Whetstone man, according to a Pima County medical examiner’s report.

Now that we have the autopsy report, this case is no longer under investigation,” said Carol Capas, spokeswoman for Cochise County Sheriff’s Office.

The man, whose name will not be released, was found outside his home Friday evening. Deputies responded to the 2000 block of Evans Road after the call came in at 9:56 p.m.

A handgun was recovered at the scene.
