SIERRA VISTA — Nearly every community in southeast Arizona has experienced a loss of power over the course of the last week, affecting thousands of people, as the monsoon causes service area-wide outages for electricity provider Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative.

While it is a later start to summer storm issues than normal, the effect has been more widespread than any in recent memory, said Jack Blair, chief member services officer for SSVEC.
