PHOENIX — Two of the Republicans who want to be state utility regulators are giving a cool reaction to a proposal by a third to deny electric, gas, telephone and water service to illegal immigrants.

I think what we need to do is seal our borders, stop them from coming here, and we won’t have that issue to begin with,” said Brenda Burns.

Title: Touchy

Has anyone even thought of the potential consequences of this? What happens
when just one baby dies from lack of water/heat/etc? Can any of you seriously
be crude enough to say “oh well?” or will you all sit around after the fact
and go “wow, maybe we should have thought of that before a tragedy
occurred”…. Utilities are a business, and like any other, IF they can pay
their bill, let them.

Title: NO

No, to answer the question. And also, there is no such thing as an illegal
immigrant. They are illegal aliens. Calling someone an illegal immigrant is
like calling a drug dealer an unlicensed pharmacist.

dee p. on Sat, 08/06/2011 - 8:07am

It doesn’t matter what you choose to call them.  They are still human beings
and deserve to be treated like humans just like you would want someone to
treat you.

Mesquitepete on Mon, 07/26/2010 - 9:59am

I do not support illegal immigration. If you do, in any way, you are
supporting the organized crime that goes with it: here are sone stats from
the FBI: 83% of warrants for murder in Phoenix are for illegal aliens;75% of
those on the most wanted list in Los Angeles, Phoenix and Albuquerque are
illegal aliens; 40.1% of all inmates in Arizona detention centers are Mexican
nationals; 29% (630,000) convicted illegal alien felons fill our state and
Federal prisons at a cost of $1.6 billion annually; 53% plus of all
investigated burglaries reported in California, New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona
and Texas are perpetrated by illegal aliens; 50% plus of all gang members in
Los Angeles are illegal aliens; 71% plus of all apprehended cars stolen in
2005 in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada and California were stolen by
Illegal aliens or “transport coyotes”; 63% of cited/stopped drivers in
Arizona have no license, no insurance and no registration for the vehicle. Of
that 63%, 97% are illegal aliens.

Again, this is an old false report that has been circulating for years and the stats and dates are changed as time passes.  This was created to use as a scare tactic.  It’s ridiculous to believe these stats.

“here are sone stats from the FBI”

No, those are some lies invented by someone who wanted to disrupt serious
debate by injecting fear into it.

You should tell the person who sent you that spam to stop emailing you.

Ran you don’t have any proof that supports your belief that the stats are
lies. Why don’t you post your stats. Oh wait you get yours from a left wing
site that is lying more.

Title: Hahahahaha!

This from the person whose idea of “proof” is to cite an imaginary report
from a government agency that no longer exists?

Those numbers are the same bull that you made a fool of yourself with last
month. And they’re still obvious nonsense.

If you had the math and logic skills of a fifth-grader, it would have been
immediately self-evident that the “illegal alien felons” stat was bull,
because THERE AREN’T 2.2 MILLION PEOPLE IN OUR PRISONS.

So it wouldn’t be necessary for you to go check out the reports that the DOJ
issues on the prison population every year, which say that over 94% of them
are US citizens.

Not that you’d bother: you don’t care what the facts are. You’ve consistently
made a habit of posting whatever outrageous nonsense suits your fancy,
insisting that people prove you wrong, and resorting to insults when they do.

It’s a fundamentally dishonest style of argument, which you use because
you’re just not able to debate honestly.

IM4TRUTH on Tue, 07/27/2010 - 12:36pm

Jesse you seem to think you are an authority of information, yet you don’t
back up anything you say with facts. So where are your facts? You want to
rebute Ran, yet you offer no proof. Talk about calling the kettle black. I
guess this makes you a hypocrit.

Illegals are not immigrants. Immigrants get a green card or visa while they
study for their United States of America citizenship test. Immigrants pass
their citizenship test and become Americans. To provide utilities, education
or welfare to illegals violates the laws banning aiding and abetting
criminals. My ancestors endured name-calling, menial jobs and substandard
living conditions while learning the language and the requirements for
citizenship in the United States of America. To allow an ethnic group to
by-pass the mandated steps to citizenship is racist. It deprives that people
group of the respect and dignity gained from working to accomplish their
 goals.
