Guard could stay on Fort Huachuca
SIERRA VISTA — The possibility two active duty military installations in southern Arizona may be used for billeting National Guard forces coming to Arizona to help on the U.S. border with Mexico is being reviewed, a spokesman for the Arizona National Guard said Monday.
“We are looking at Fort Huachuca and Davis-Monthan (Air Fore Base) for billeting and other services to save costs,” 1st Lt. Valentine Castillo said.

They have housed them at Fort Huachuca in the past and it worked out fine. I
also like the suggestion of tents near the border. The tents they have these
days are climate controlled and everything and they could set up field
sanitation areas for showering and MKTs for the cooks to handle meals. It
seems like it would send a stronger message to have them set up out near the
border anyway.
Did I miss it or does this article fail to mention that Brewer is using $10
million in federal stimulus funds to pay for those border security
enhancement grants? The evil socialist money that was stolen from our
grandchildren? You just can’t make stuff like this up. LOL
Your understanding of what is Socialism and the proper role of the Federal
Government is rather shallow. Through many of your posts you rant about the
same thing but the argument is thin, almost as if you gained your knowledge
from congressional newsletters sent out by Giffords. Of course you think much
of this is made up if you don’t understand the basics. Do everybody a favor,
especially yourself, and read a book on basic economics. The Friends of the
Library have an excellent used book store at the library so you can pick one
up for a buck. You will learn that the Federal government of a sovereign
nation spending money to protect its border is far different than that same
government buying into a private automobile manufacturer, firing its CEO, and
handing the reigns over to the UAW.
Tentage at or near the border is the most cost effective and mission oriented
housing solution. It improves responsiveness and reduces transportation
costs. They are only staying for a few months, do they need hard billets?
The Guard staying at Ft. Huachuca plus the possibility of staying at
Davis-Monathon certainly would be cost effective. It appears that members of
the two major political partys agree with this,
