BISBEE — Operation Streamline continues to criminalize some illegal immigrants in the Border Patrol’s Tucson Sector, but one border expert does not believe the program is effective.

During a teleconference hosted by the Immigration Policy Center on Monday, Aarti Kohli, director of immigration policy at the Chief Justice Earl Warren Institute on Race, Ethnicity and Diversity at the Berkeley School of Law, said Operation Streamline is an example of “a misdirected policy.”

Title: Information

Some wanted more information and I looked up some. Posted in the Dallas
Morning news on Mar 2,2010; during a three day operation 284 people caught
with criminal convictions. That is a lot no matter how you look at it. In
fiscal 2009; 388,000 returned illegals, 136,000 with criminal records. First,
anyone entering this country illegally is NOT honest and trustworthy. Just
can’t understand why some can not follow the laws just like others who have
entered this country. This country has laws to protect and guide us. Why do
these people think the law is for everyone else BUT them. Second, Henry you
are always throwing out questions but, never answer. You are so pro-illegal.
Are you employed? Do you supoort this state and country with taxes? What
benefit do illegals provide for you?

Huachuca Henry on Sun, 06/13/2010 - 12:09pm

Your blind mindlessness toward SB1070 leaves you drawing all the wrong
conclusions. Not agreeing with methods doesn’t make me “pro-illegal”.You are
falling for a promise to have AMERICAN CITIZENS pestered and hassled to catch
a couple illegals…I am not. This law stinks and will never be enforced. I
want employers of illegals thrown in jail and illegal crossers kept out at
the border. Never unemployed, never collected a dime from the government and
got my first job in 1974. You can continue to fall for the political dribble
that millions of people are freeloading off you but the reality is that state
and local taxes per person have gone down for 30 years and welfare has been
cut. 30 years of debt. The politicians have shifted the tax burden from the
wealthy to the working/middle class while you were asleep . Help them keep it
that way!!! Want a freeloader..look to a bank or oil company. Why do you
paint a tomato picker and gold toothed drug smuggler with the same wide
 brush?

Hereford Steve on Sun, 06/20/2010 - 6:57am

Henry, You and millions like you, who have worked these past 35 years (me
included), have pumped tax money into a system that never gets enough. I too
remember them taking a small amount for social security and being told it was
put away for me at a later date. Only later, after high school and college,
did I see the truth. There was no nest egg being built but only an elaborate
ponzi scheme. So get angry at the government for legally stealing your hard
earned pay, don’t get angry at faceless corporations. Big oil companies or
banks DO NOT PAY TAXES at the end of the day, they are passed to the
consumer. It happens in every business. There is no other way to pay them.
Don’t all for the Al Gore (and other politicians) with their class warfare
BS. That is the politicians way, to divide and conquer. Only by taking away
their cash flow do you take away their power.

Huachuca Henry: In your reply: you appear to be all for Illegal Immigration.
My experience shows me that Legal citizens are more apt to support their
country than Illegals. I found that to be true while in the Marine Corps when
we had citizens who enlisted for the purpose to become citizens. I had many
neighbors while living in Bisbee who were Hispanics, good citizens and proud
of it. They always stated that they became legal and could not understand why
those without citizenship did not do the same. Do you or do you not agree
with this statement? Still trying to figure where you stand on this issue.

Huachuca Henry on Sat, 06/19/2010 - 4:39am

WW2, I have really no idea how you can come to the conclusion that I am “for
illegals” from my posts. You also don’t seem to have the slightest idea of
what current immigration laws are or that it is nearly impossible for
Mexicans to “become legal” under current law. I know for a fact that during
WW 2 Mexicans could enlist in the US armed services from Mexico and become
citizens. Not anymore. It is near impossible for a Mexican unless they have
relatives in the US to get a green card and “become legal”. It is extremely
difficult for Mexicans to get one of the unlimited temp agricultural visas
because the paperwork is a nightmare for both farmer and worker. Yet large US
companies have been advertising in Mexico for workers then hiring them here
for 40 years. They never get punished and US politicians do nothing to stop
this. These “good Mexican” stories of yours do not ring true. Mexican
Americans know that not being able to become a citizen doesn’t mean Mexicans
don’t want to.

So HH how would you go about rounding up illegals and sending them back? How
do you know they are illegal unless you actually ask them for their ID? That
is all this law says and you don’t have a clue and can’t answer a simple
question. I want to know how you would do it better than this law would?

Huachuca Henry on Wed, 06/16/2010 - 4:09pm

Fix the federal hiring/immigration laws and create a verified SS card.No card
and you hire then you go to prison for 5 years and the government takes your
business. No card no welfare. Bus fare back to Nogales. They got here, they
can go back on their own. Go after Mexican organized crime(the drug and human
smugglers) SB1070 will do absolutely nothing. It won’t be enforced just like
the AZ hiring law. If by some miracle it is enforced, it won’t work. Giant
waste of LE time/money chasing brown people around in Phoenix. By the way the
border patrol says human traffic is down(fewer apprehensions) but pot
smuggling is way up.I believe it at least in the Huachucas..much less new
garbage. Why not legalize and tax? That portable radar on Montezuma pass
works…buy more and put the national guard on the border. Pester smugglers
not American citizens. You could finish the job in 2 years. SB1070 is
election year trash.

The illegal immigrant has to “ENTER” the country first before he/she gets a
SS card or a job. The moment they “ENTERED” the country they are in
“VIOLATION” of the law.
Punishing an established business for employing A PERSON WHO VIOLATED OUR
FEDERAL IMMIGRATION LAW THE MOMENT HE/SHE CROSSED THE BORDER doesn’t “STOP”
them from “CROSSING” the “BORDER” “ILLEGALLY”.

Now HR asked you “HOW TO STOP ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION?” HR didn’t ask you HOW
WOULD YOU PUNISH A BUSINESS OWNER FOR HIRING SOMEONE THAT HAS ALREADY
VIOLATED OUR IMMIGRATION LAWS!!!!
OMG!!!!! When will you STOP DISTORTING WHAT PEOPLE SAY!!!!!!
