SIERRA VISTA — A 16-year-old is in critical condition after local law enforcement officials said he was taken to a desert area east of Sierra Vista and beaten with a two-by-four.
Steven Lee Townsend, 18, of Tucson has been taken into custody after he told Tombstone Marshal’s Office deputies that he assaulted the 16-year-old male victim on Monday, said Carol Capas, spokeswoman for the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office.

Now watch him get a year suspended sentence if convicted.
Yeah then watch him go buy a gun because no one did a background check. Then
watch him go and terrorize the community. The moral to wildfire’s story is to
enact gun control legislation that would close the loophole. Good call
wildfire.
It doesn’t appear that he needed a gun to commit a crime. Nor does it appear
that he needed a gun to do life changing damage to another.
However, if he’s convicted, when he’s released, he SHOULD be able to go into
Ace Hardware and legally buy a gun. But, he also should be confined until he
is no longer a menace to society.
But that’s NOT the LAW.
If convicted of a felony of violence, the CURRENT LAW FORBIDS him from
POSSESSING a gun, no matter HOW acquired.
If he gets married; the CURRENT LAW will FORBID his WIFE from POSSESSING a
gun, no matter HOW the gun is acquired.
If they have children, and the children live at home with their mother after
they’re grown, like you: CURRENT LAW will FORBID them from POSSESSING a gun
no matter HOW it was acquired.
The CURRENT LAW FORBIDS what he did to the 16-year-old…but he did it
anyway. SHAZAM! Get this, CRIMINALS…VIOLATED THE LAW!
Maybe if we made guns “Super Dooper Forbidden”?
