SIERRA VISTA — Looking out at the 1,200-plus people who gathered at Buena High School Friday night for the 16th Annual Relay for Life made cancer survivor Sunny Quatchon feel hopeful for the future, and thankful that fears and misunderstandings of the disease seem to be a thing of the past.

The young survivors, … they don’t realize what people that had cancer years ago went though,” said Quatchon, who was first diagnosed with lung cancer 42 years ago.
