Firearms nabbed at border heading south

DOUGLASU.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped an illegal exportation of firearms with the help of a specially trained dog about 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers were screening travelers in the southbound lane that directs traffic from the U.S. into Mexico. The officers selected a 2003 Chevy Silverado pickup for further inspection. The Silverado was being driven by a 22-year-old man identified as a Mexican national and resident of Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico.

Since it was a Mexican national who was trafficking the guns south, wouldn’t
it be more logical to regulate who comes to the U.S.?

Title: HR 2324

More than 100 U.S. Representatives have signed on to cosponsor legislation,
H.R. 2324, that would close the gun show loophole. We’ve collected signatures
from thousands of citizens across the country who want to keep dangerous
people from getting guns so easily — without a Brady criminal background
check. This will be passed before NOV!

Title: Not likely.

There’s a slim chance of getting it past the Blue Dogs in the House. But
nothing short of a high-profile assassination (attempt) or terrorist attack
using guns purchased at a gun show will prevent a successful Senate
 filibuster.

It’ll die in committee because the Democrats won’t want to give the
Republicans campaign fodder in a tough election year. Meanwhile, the anti-gun
Democrats in anti-gun districts will still get to campaign on their
co-sponsorship without hurting the Blue Dogs.

If they really wanted to address the problem of illegal sales, they could
have done it in a way that would have avoided most of the opposition: just
require a “generic” NICS check at the door, that doesn’t require logging the
details of each (potential) transaction.. Instead, they loaded the bill up
with features that seem deliberately designed to provoke opponents.

Title: Yeah well

Here’s the problem 4truth, your messiah in DC is not capable of passing a
bill that requires ONLY US Citizens to be able to buy guns here. Because he
will tack on a bunch of junk to the bill that will take our own rights away
to, so,guess what,we will keep our rights as they should be. A gun is nothing
more than a tool, I could break into your house with a baseball bat, rob you,
and beat you to death.Do I need a background check to play baseball?

There is no law that ensures that a person purchasing a gun in a private sale
is authorized to buy one. This means that anyone to include criminals,
illegals and terrorists can purchase guns with no ID and no questions asked.
The only thing they need is cash. http://www.gunshowundercover.org/ It seems
like mohawk001 is afraid to admit the loophole that even his prized news
outlet admits http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,561881,00.html What is
wrong mohawk? Why are you afraid to look at the truth? …

The AZ constitutional carry law requires that all private sellers check
buyers for proof of citizenship. There is a law and it goes into effect in
August. Knowingly selling to a prohibited person is a federal felony. Buying
a gun as a prohibited person is a felony.Possessing a gun as a prohibited
person..felony. Using a gun in a crime…felony. How would you identify a
terrorist? Let me guess, Dick Cheney’s unconstitutional watch list? LOL

I see I hit a sore spot. Why don’t you keep telling lies about me, because
you know that the Herald will keep publishing them for you. Sadly, that is
all you can do, lie about others who don’t follow you blindly like you
blindly follow others. You cry about loopholes, but there isn’t a loophole
like you’ve been trying to claim. Suddenly you come clean and say it’s about
private sales. However, do you also wish every single thing you do require a
background check? I think it’s pathetic that the government doesn’t require
you to do a background check before you fuel up your car, because you could
use that car as a weapon. I think it’s sad that the government doesn’t
require Wal-Mart to do background checks every time you go there to buy a
gardening tool, because that tool could be used as a weapon while stealing
someone’s wallet. It is however still illegal for someone to knowingly sell a
weapon to someone as you describe. So it’s not a loophole, it’s people
breaking the law…

What is LEGAL to do in a gun show, but ILLEGAL to do OUTSIDE of a gun show?

Answer: NOTHING!

No half-baked web-site is needed; just logic and REASON.

Thus proving once and for all: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A “GUN SHOW
LOOPHOLE”. You are simply LYING as you do in virtually every post.
ANYONE walking our streets as a “Freeman” should be able to do so ARMED if
they wish. If they are a menace to society, either because of mental illness
or criminal behavior THEY SHOULDN’T BE ALLOWED TO WALK OUR STREETS AS
FREEMEN: THEY SHOULD BE LOCKED UP!

IM4TRUTH is really uninformed about gun laws.

CCWHM on Tue, 05/11/2010 - 05:45

From the one law where Im4LiberalPropaganda said felons and terrorists could
legally carry and law enforcement couldn’t do anything about it to the bill
that allowed CCW permit holders to carry into restaurants when we were told
all these businesses would close down (funny, the only ones I have seen close
were from this wonderful obama economy). Given Im4’s history you can pretty
much surmise that when it comes to Firearms, Taxes, Law or the Economy the
opposite of what im4 says is probably right. It would be nice for Im4 to
provide me with that list of a million+ names of people that have been
executed at the Maricopa county prison/”Concentration Camp”.
