SIERRA VISTA — Now is the time for the federal government to step up and provide the necessary support to secure Arizona’s border with Mexico, Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever told members of Congress on Tuesday.

Speaking before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs in Washington, Dever laid out the challenges facing law enforcement agencies along Arizona’s southern border.

Today, everything is much more organized, much more dangerous and much more dire,” he said.

The first thing to do is take the handcuffs off the Border Patrol agents. For
those who don’t remember, Janet was testifying before the House soon after
she was confirmed when she was told of a workplace raid. Her response was,
“I’ll put a stop to this.” And of course there hasn’t been a workplace raid
 since.

It’s bad enough that the illegal aliens have no respect for our laws and
sovereignty, but when the apparent majority of our elected and unelected
federal government officials seemingly hold the same attitude we are doomed
until they’re all booted.

Of course Obama is currently pushing his shamnesty plan. I personally find it
beyond disgusting to see illegal aliens not just expecting but DEMANDING
 amnesty!

Those who feel it is a moral imperative to help these poor people are
absolutely entitled to support them in their nations of origin with their
individual personal funds.

The Star just ran an article about Dever announcing a person of interest in a
number of burglaries in Portal. His name is Alejandro Chavez-Vasquez and he
is a career criminal out of Aqua Prieta. Apparently they think this guy knows
something about the Krentz murder or did it. I think nationally many people
know about Krentz’s murder but do they know about the huge number of
burglaries in rural Cochise county and the connection to Mexican gangs and
American drug users? This can be stopped but more resources are needed.

Everyone keeps yelling about sending the national guard to the border but
have they been considering the fact that they keep meeting each other coming
and going between Iraq and Afghanistan? How much can these families take
without being destroyed? There is nothing temporary with our strategy. We
should either acknowledge the National Guard being a permanent US military
force and adequately compensated or rename them the state guard or state
militia and out them under state control. The border is a national problem
and we are suffering and going through all this bull because our national
government is irresponsible. Vote the bums out!

I watched most of the testimony on CSPAN. The three made a good case. Sherrif
Dever was particulary articulate and concise. Unfortunately I didn’t hear
anything from our elected representatives that suggests they might take
action. Ho hum, more of the same compaints from these bothersome folks on the
border. When will they finally give up?

I have to agree with Sheriff Dever and those politicians who support his
concerns. The situation along our border has gotten out of control. We have
to recognize that our local governments can no longer do the job by
themselves. When we have have hit men coming across our borders freely and
allowed to kill our citizens, higher government must get envolved.

“Now is the time for the federal government to step up and provide the
necessary support to secure Arizona’s border with Mexico, Cochise County
Sheriff Larry Dever told members of Congress on Tuesday.” “This is a
homeland security problem,” [Lieberman] said. “Of the 17-members of the
Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, only Sens. McCain and
Joe Lieberman, the chairman of the committee, were at the hearing.” That says
it all.

Hey Goddard, cutting the supply of LEGAL immigrants will increase not
decrease`demand for illegal labor. Economics 101 or kindergarten play store
if you were paying attention.
