Hospital won’t delay agreement
Health: Concerns linger about Carondelet deal
SIERRA VISTA — Although the Sierra Vista Regional Health Center board of trustees has been asked to hold off from a partnership agreement with Carondelet Health Network that becomes effective April 17, the answer is no.
In response to a series of Herald/Review questions put to Marie Wurth, the SVHRC main spokeswoman on the issue, she said, “The agreement has been signed and will be effective April 17, 2010.”

I don’t know the problems with Carondelet in Sierra Vista, but my wife and I
have had excellent success with Carondelet in Tucson. Our doctors and
hospitals have worked well between us and Carondelet for our medical
requirements here.
I am still waiting for someone to name 5 SPECIFIC reasons this deal will
benefit Sierra Vista. Obviously not because of the doctors, all the doctors
in this area have been very vocal about their dislike of this agreement. And
every excuse I have heard on the radio is extrmly vague and says nothing.
Marie Wurth’s evasive comment that “compensation and/or benefits for
employee’s and physicians are confidential” only makes my suspicion of this
merger even stronger. As mentioned by others, as an organization exempt from
income tax, the hospital’s 990 Form is public record. The compensation of the
five highest paid employees as well as Officers (Marie Wurth) and Trustees
(Margaret Hepburn)must be provided as part of Form 990; after her many years
with SVRHC I find it hard to believe Marie doesn’t know this.
…Watch out for the Herald flaming you for a complaint against any doctor
spoken about here in this storyline. I hate to say it but SVRHC services will
become less than ideal for most citizens in Sierra Vista. This is turn will
lead more people to seek out services in Bisbee or the longer drive to
TMC,UMC, UPH Kino Campus. Watch the doctors leave being affiliated with
SVRHC! In the next few years you will see SVRHC become an essence of a
band-aide station just like another hospital 35 miles due north of Sierra
Vista. It is known as the gateway town to the San Pedro Valley and its
biggest tourism draw is Kartchner Caverns! Look what happened to that
facility it lost its ability to have babies born there!
I no doubt missed it, but still wonder to what advantage to SVRH is it to
join with Carondelet?
Well you have to admit that making government and banks bigger has worked out
better for the people. Hopefully having one huge hospital network will be
great too.
It’s the other way around. SVRHC is very important to Carondelet in the
Tucson hospital market share war. Ever referral goes to them. Medicine is big
big money and the SV dollars just become the property of Carondelet. We’ve
been had.
Every referral.. does not go to CHN. SVRHC does sent patients to UMC,TMC,
KIndred hospitals.it all depends on the patients services.give me a break
WOW sunnie you must be a employee that is in admin at the hospital? Because
you are feeding the public the same line of bull that the Admin instructs the
emlpoyees to give the public. LIke these are your only option for care. Think
hard about what Im talking about(you know this). As you know the discharge
planners are given instructions on what are the perfured places or services
to advies patients to use when the leave the hospital(there is a list that
they use,i.e. discharge planning, social services, house suprivisors.)So has
the Administration updated the list that they talk to the patients about
where the put the lest desired places at the bottom and the employees incurge
the pateints to go to the more favored places at the top? You know alot
Sunnie so dont try to get over on the readers. Those of use here that are past
employees and have had this things said to use know.
You get that the take over is April 17, right? Employee loyalty is nice but
maybe you should wait until you actually work under CHN before you carry
their water for them. One of the stated purposes(see the letter on the SVRHC
website) is to refer patients to CHN and use CHN’s emergency system. You seem
to be an expert on Catholic hospitals. Have you actually worked at a Catholic
hospital? You are telling me that they won’t be pushing referrals to CHN
after April 17? I don’t believe it. If CHN offers it, you will be going there
unless you are conscious and complaining. There is one level one trama center
in Tucson. Is it a CHN hospital..nope.
