TUCSONU.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords on Monday announced that the U.S. Air Force will hold a March 30 meeting in Sierra Vista before deciding whether to base the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter in Tucson.

Five F-35 meetings already have been held throughout Southeastern Arizona. A sixth — the meeting in Sierra Vista — was added at Giffords’ request.

This is something that i am willing to support Ms. Giffords efforts to get
this program to stay in the area of Southeastern Arizona. This will certainly
be welcomed and the added income base for having a project like this added to
the fort would be a boost for the local economy that is having its struggles!
This would certainly put the Fort and Libby Airfield in line with being a
truly cutting edge force for the future. This could bring millions of dollars
in added revenue to the area with some civilian jobs being created with this
newly discussed need for the F-35 program. Ms. Giffords for once i applaud
your efforts in not forgetting the Sierra Vista/Ft. Huachucha military and
citizenry who could use this boost. Thank you for batting for the little guys
in Cochise County on the national level.

If Tucson, cries and moans too much about the possibility of it being located
at TIA. Send it to Cochise county and let the Fort Huachucha/Sierra Vista
area, this base at Libby Airfield could accomodate this new program. Noise is
the nature of the beast for aircraft..get over yourself Tucson. We who reside
in Cochise county will welcome it with open arms!

Title: F35 meeting

Most of the people in Tucson who have complained about Davis Monthan AFB and
its aircraft noise are people who bought homes near the AFB after it was
built and in operation for many years. They should have thought about things
like this before they bought their homes so close to the AFB. I’m sure that
Sierra Vista people would like to have the extra jobs that Libby Field could
provide if the F35’s were to be located there.

I suggest the following to U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. If the Tucson
community has any objections to moving F-35 training to their city why not
look at moving the flight training to Libby Army Airfield! There is no doubt
that the community could support Air Force training. With the recent
announcement of one of the Signal Battalions’ scheduled to move to Fort
Bliss, TX then there will be buildings available for Air Force personnel to
use. In addition, if Air Force training would need to expand further Fort
Huachuca has the space to accommodate that expansion! Let’s make Fort
Huachuca a truly joint/multi service training location Rep. Giffords! Just
some food for thought.
