SIERRA VISTA — A bill making its way through the Arizona Legislature which would require all law enforcement agencies in the state to make a “reasonable attempt” to determine the immigration status of those they come into contact with during an investigation has split opinions among law enforcement officials.

Senate Bill 1070 would also make any illegal immigrants in the state in violation of Arizona trespassing laws.

Chief Ken Kimmel of the Sierra Vista Police Department said that the bill amounts to an unfunded mandate on police departments.

Wildfire your ideas & comments are right on. Furthermore, i believe that a
national mandated identification bill needs to be considered and so order and
approved to give this ID to all citizens who are born in this nation, and is
at least a 3rd generation lineage of parentage based on living here in the
U.S.A. Furthermore, if the applicant has passed a stringent testing to those
who seek becoming a citizen of this nation through proper established
protocol! This would be a Federally mandated ID that has our picture and
thumb print embedded in this laminated ID card. Get the illegals to stay in
their homeland with duress, if they cross once again illegally they should be
detained and incarcerated in a federal prison to do hard time for at least 15
years to see that we do not want them to keep trashing our nation and having
their off-spring born, raised and educated at our expense. Enough is enough,
make it so is what i would tell Mr. Obama!!

I take it you have never lived in or visited a country where you were subject
to arrest, indefinite confinement and/or in order and on your person at all
times. Imagine if you will that during a routine stop at a sobriety or
immigration checkpoint the officer or agent adds the words “papers please”
and “what is you destination” after the usual “good morning”. I’ll pass on
the mandatory federally regulated “papers”, thank you. A state issued form of
ID is more than adequate, much more. Be careful what you ask for there mate.
How about insisting on secure borders (all 8 sides of them) instead. As far
as the article goes, asking a person if he/she/it is here legally if the
currently required State ID is not presented when asked for won’t put an
additional burden on LE, nor draw their “ire”. Might make a few more runs to
the detention center occasionally, but that’s about it. If you want to carry
a federally issued ID, use your passport for ze papers. Don’t forget to sign
 them.

how enforcing a state law is an issue of an unfunded mandate? State criminal
statutes are enforced by local PDs every day to my knowledge few or none are
funded. The real issue is how you determine legal status when millions of
people carry no proof of immigration status(there is no required national ID,
right?). We need a SS card with photo and thumb print that can be instantly
check against a national data base. If you hire somebody without the card and
verification, you go to prison and your company assets get taken. No card no
job, welfare, healthcare, drivers license and no school. The wing nuts(left and
right) will scream about oppressive government but if you ever served in the
military, worked in LE, were bonded..the list goes on..the FBI has a file on
you. Without available jobs no fence will be needed and the inland border
checks can be closed. The real criminals are those that hire illegals and the
lobbyist class that owns Washington and want cheap labor forever.

Title: Funding

I support this bill in general. There should be language in the bill that
addresses training and funding to local police departments so the burden is
not is not borne solely on departments that have higher incidents with
illegals. Funding and training should come from the federal gov’t. since this
bill is mandating local police departments enforce federal immigration laws.

Help reduce the financial burden on the State by stopping taxpayer financed
Welfare, education and health care THEFT.

I wish it didn’t stop there; give them 15 days on a chain-gang doing cleanup
of the roadways and the paths of destruction left by other illegals.
Take away the “all positive” incentive to invade and wreck our Country.

This in turn will have the benefit of SAVING the LIVES of illegals who change
their minds about chancing the desert to steal services.

Title: Just do it

The police exist to enforce the law. That includes ALL lawbreakers. Get these
illegals out of this country. Stop the flood.
