SIERRA VISTA — The U.S. Border Patrol apprehended a group of more than 50 illegal immigrants near the San Pedro River early Wednesday.

Agents utilizing remotely operated cameras spotted the group west of the San Pedro River just after midnight, agent Colleen Agle said.

Members of the horse patrol from the Border Patrol’s Naco station responded to the scene and were eventually assisted by a helicopter from the Office of Air and Marine, Agle said.

A total of 53 people were nabbed, including 36 men, nine women and eight juveniles.

It was a rather busy night here in the Benson area, the group spin off of
Customs and Border Patrol called ICE which goes after the heavyweight drug
pushers into our nation was very active in pursuit of a couple of vehicles
along east 4th Street(Hwy 80)for they passed my home and activated their
lights and sirens twirping for those vehicles to stop from trying to run for
cover of the dark into side streets. I believe they did stop them from
getting off the main drag. It is truly weird that Border Patrol agents are up
at the police station on Tuesday evenings as well. It makes a person want to
go hummmmm! Is someone being interigated at the PD by Border Patrol Agents or
if something else is amiss or undercover going on there? This is a common
routine every Tuesday evening after 8:00 PM.

Title: Illegals

How can the Herald get this headline wrong? This should be a no-brainer by
now. They are “illegals”

This paper’s disregard for calling a spade a spade is close for me to cancel
my subscription. These 53 trespassers are not immigrants so stop gilding and
tell it like it is.

This must be close to a record number for illegals caught at the same time in
the same place. Congratulations to a vigilant Border Patrol.

If memory serves me, there was 114 CHINESE caught just north of Elfrida as
few years back.

Title: Your memory

If your memory is correct, that would be more than twice as many. That’s a
sizeable catch.

was also the fact that they were CHINESE illegals!

Title: Sorry Herald

The title of this story should have read:
53 illegal aliens caught near river

They aren’t immigrants, they are trespassers on another country’s soil.

They are simply being sensitive! OH by the way, did you read their article
about the arrest of the undocumented pharmacist? (Sure sounds more sensitive
than “the arrest of an illegal drug dealer”, doesn’t it?)
