Hospitals fear fallout from budget crisis
SIERRA VISTA — As legislators struggle to balance the state budget, hospitals are bracing for some of the deepest cuts in health care that Arizona has seen in recent history.
And Sierra Vista Regional Health Center is no exception.
“If our legislators pass these cuts, they stand to sever 400,000 people from health care,” said Bruce Dockter, who serves as secretary of Sierra Vista hospital board and chairs its Government Relations Committee.

Budget crises for the hospital? Hardly. The hospital has not been affected
one penny by any national “crises” There is only 3% unemployment in SV. This
hospital is tri-care funded. This hospital has posted some of its biggest
profits ever. Now with their merger with Carondolet they will start to feel
some well needed pain. They will loose business do to their faulty board
siding with a catholic chain.
Again with the playing with unemployment data? Post a source that shows
Current unemployment at 3% for the sierra vista area. Everything with any
reliability to it I have seen pegs it at %7+.
“Sierra Vista’s unemployment rate in 2008 was 3.1 percent, up seven-tenths
of a percentage point from 2.4 percent in 2007.”
www.ci.sierra-vista.az.us/cms1/resources/PIO/FAQ/2009_Sierra_Vista_Economic_Outlook.pdf
Here is the actual numbers for SV. So the only one playing with the data
would be CCWHM who has reported lies in the past and is completely unreliable
when it comes to truth and facts.
I asked for a source that showed CURRENT unemployment at %3. You said, “There
IS only 3% unemployment in SV” You give me 2008?!? Do you know what the word
“current” means? Do you know what year it is? Perhaps you shouldn’t accuse
others of lying when you are trying to pass off 2008 data as today’s. In case
you didn’t know, the economic situation is Much worse now that it was in
2008.
He got the MILLENNIUM right, and for him that’s MUCH MORE accurate than
normal! Odd, Im4truth forgot to mention that since the Heller decision; DC’s
homicide rate has drop to the LOWEST number since the 1960’s!
The SVRH brought this upon themselves by selling out to carondolet. I will go
to Bisbee before I go to these birds ecer again. I would encourage everyone
to abandon the SVRH and find a ne emergency provider.
This hospital has the must wasteful attitude every. For years the hospital
has used money on things that werent necessary. they are a not for profit
orginazation. To that end instead of at the end of numerus years instead of
helping those members of the community that werent able to pay off there
bills that are owed to them they would take excess money in the till and do
stupid projects like build a new nurses station on the other end of the hall
so that the nurse didnt have to walk as far or the would put in new tile and
paint that had just been done a year or two before. This board hasnt looked
out for this community seens Dave Restler left here they and the
Administration have been looking out for themselves and not the best interest
of this community.I want to now how much of a raise you got Mrs. Hepburn for
a job WELL DONE in the boards mind.
You maybe for truth, but you sure can’t spout it. The local facility brought
what on themselves? This budget crisis is a nationwide issue, not just here -
go educate yourself. It says they are financially stable, and they are
looking to continue that in the future with the match up with Carondelet. So
if the hopspital went under because they didn’t plan for the fututre, what
would your comment be then? “Oh, they didn’t plan for this to happen even
though we all knew it would and now we don’t have any healthcare here.” You
can’t have it both ways - you have to take the good with the not so good,
that’s life. What happens if you are in an accident and there are no
emergency services for 40+ miles? I’d like to see your comments when you are
bleeding and broken.
This is happening all over the country. The current administration is trying
to use this as an excuse to pass their massive health care plan. It smacks of
a socialistic form of government. Our country was not founded on Socialism. I
certainly hope there will be enough Democrats to block the passing of this
plan.
People forget that a %21 cut in medicare reimbursement starts today. Yea so
we are to believe that a government that cant even keep medicare (which was
already paying too little) going can be trusted with all our health care. Are
we to believe that a nation that cant afford medicare can somehow afford
total health care? Yea riiite…the numbers war against it.
