Paton will be campaigning for Arizona’s 8th Congressional District U.S. House seat, currently held by Gabrielle Giffords.

He announced his decision to run for the seat in January.

I support health care reform just because the federal budget demands we
address out-of-control costs. Otherwise, the deficit will skyrocket and
bankrupt us. Do nothing, or the ineffectual republican ideas — like giving
granny a voucher instead of Medicare — will lead to certain bankruptcy or
taxes so high we’ll suffocate.
A responsible leader is one who tries to address and fix an obvious problem
that will cause us lots of harm.

Problems? Then fix them. Medicare going broke? Then fix it. Economy going
over the cliff? Then stop it. This is what we elect leaders to do. Not follow
the wishes of uneducated people with their heads in the sand.

Giffords has voted on the budget, on health care, on Stimulus, on equal pay
for women, on supporting 2nd Amendment rights…in a way that supports
citizens and keeps our gov’t strong and solvent. I will be voting for again.

I won’t be voting for any crackpots who say “cut taxes to create jobs.” We
can’t take anymore nonsense. No mas.

Title: Uhhh

Is that straight off the giffords website? Guess not, but it sounds like it.
We Already are bankrupt, so your argument is to not to question, just spend
more money? Isn’t that the exact same argument that gave us the stimulus with
all the wall street bailouts? The reality is hitting that we cant simply
print more money and have a currency that has any value. We are
$12,432,344,500,000+ (+$107,635,910,000,000 unfunded liabilities) in the
hole. The us only takes in 2 trillion a year. With those numbers, how do you
propose “fixing” medicare? Mind you, we were told that medicare would be
“cost neutral” as well. Never mind the fact that it is having another %21 cut
today or the fact that it is 74 Trillion in the hole, just, “fix it”? That
might work in fantasy land but so much in reality. How does raising taxes
help the economy and create jobs? I guess when you listen to an economic
“expert” that couldn’t even use turbo tax you get odd views like that.

….Paton changed the way Tucson citizens got to vote in city elections,
arrogantly dismissed the voters’ wishes, imposed his will on the election
process instead.
And he arrogantly says he has a record to run on? A broken state in economic
and fiscal disarray, a regressive tax code that requires bottom 5th to pay
20% of their income in taxes and requires the top 5th to pay only 4%, and a
state gov’t that can’t even fund public schools for families…does he think
everybody is rich and can afford private schools for their kids?

How pompous, arrogant and out-of-touch can you get?

Giffords knows how to represent average, working class people, who care about
jobs, economic security, health care, and fairness (Lilly Ledbetter Equal Pay
 Act).

I’m still trying to figure out who Paton thinks he’s representing. His record
is one of complete failure to the people of Arizona. Promotion? No Way.

Ok, I am not in the tank for Patton, but, you call him “arrogant” for
dismissing voters wishes yet you are for Obama care. All the recent polls I
have seen show that it is not wanted in the US…so, how does that make dems
 different?

Title: Very good

Jonathan Paton may not be Ronald Reagan or Barry Goldwater. But at least he
is conservative and can beat Gabrielle Giffords. Jesse Kelly is weak and
without substance. The only thing he has is money, and that all came from his
stimulus funded family construction business.

Title: Not good

Paton is not the right choice for this seat. Jesse Kelly is a better
conservative than Paton is and hopefully will defeat him in the primaries.

Phillip D on Sat, 02/27/2010 - 08:12
Title: better?

Jesse Kelly said on his website that the way to lower prescription drug costs
is to get rid of the FDA.
The guy may be a veteran, and a photogenic smooth talker, but he is the last
thing we need in Congress.

We need somebody with brains.

IM4TRUTH on Tue, 02/23/2010 - 21:21
Title: Hahaha

Kelley is weak! His little business isn’t enough. Paton will loose because he
is too far right. His colleagues refer to him in as an extremist and
anti-bi-partisan. His agenda is set on the same course as Bee. People are too
smart to let a good thing like Giffords go. Keep dreamimg buddy boy! That was
a good laugh!

Title: So

So his business being small makes him weak. ok, what does that say about your
presidents cabinet, most of whom have not ever had to meet a payroll. I guess
that is completely different because he has a “D” next to his name?

Giffords will not get re-elected again. She has shown she does not care about
what the people here have to say. Guess you don’t remember her so called town
hall she had here back in August where she said that we needed to sit down
and listen to her. She is too arrogant and too full of herself. She voted for
this stupid health care bill that most people here don’t want and now because
she sides with Pelosi she will not win another term. Jesse Kelly is much
stronger than you think. You are just a weak libtard that doesn’t have a
 clue.
