FAITH: FORMER SAILOR ADDRESSES DIFFICULT ISSUES OF COMING BACK FROM COMBAT
FORT HUACHUCA — Although the speaker at Thursday’s National Prayer Breakfast on the fort had the audience laughing time and time again, there was a serious message behind his shtick.
Like the Army, Dave Roever is concerned about the ever-increasing suicides by soldiers.
The stress and horrible aftermath of the battlefield are no strangers to Roever.
And his battle experience led him to not only to contemplate taking his own life, but attempt it as well.

This sailor saw something great when he thought about his wife. She and
others helped him to realize that inspite of what he went through during
battle, he is still loved by God and others for his service to God and
country. Having experienced traumatic experiences myself during WW2, I
emphatize with him.
