Carondelet deal to bring changes at local hospital
Both sides tout benefits; sterilization procedures will be off limits
SIERRA VISTA — In April, the Sierra Vista Regional Health Center will partner with a not-for-profit Catholic health care system, according to the center’s vice president.
The network agreement between the Sierra Vista medical facility and Carondelet Health Network becomes effective April 17 and “will enable the two health care providers to combine their strengths to deliver quality health care to tens of thousands of residents in southeastern Arizona, Marie Wurth said Friday.

Perhaps it’s time for another hospital in the area.
I was born in the early 50’s in Tucson, I believe it’s population at that
time was somewhere around 50,000.
It had at the time (I think) Saint Marys, Saint Joesph’s, Tucson Medical
Center (TMC), and University Medical Center (UMC).
I guess it’s time for a real hospital in this town!
Why… the emergency is always full, you can wait 8 hours to get treatment,
there are clinic’s and emergency care facilities popping up everywhere.
Let’s build a new “real” hospital!
Rancher
I’ll ask again: I DID NOT say: “this decision must be good if the
business leaders of the hospital made it in direct opposition of the medical
leaders”. What you misread is that I only see a VERY FEW options: 1) the
business leaders are KNOWINGLY TRYING to destroy SVRHC by DELIBERATELY
alienating and causing desertion in their doctor base and clients. (Doesn’t
make sense.) 2) The business leaders are SO STUPID and IRRESPONSIBLE: they
don’t even REALIZE the negative impact their actions will cause. (Why are
they “in power”?)3) Someone or a number of “someones” are making BIG
MONEY to make this“horrible thing” happen, no matter the cost, for reason
unknown. (Possibly illegal and VERY exposed.) 4) There are BIG BENEFITS to
SVRHC that are being down played, FOR SOME REASON, that makes the risks,
anger and alienation of the staff and clients: WORTH IT! Which of the 4 do
YOU think it is? Do YOU see another reason? There’s a REASON you’re a
“Former”; anything you want to share?
The Hospital has always been a local asset, built with donations of property
and money by local people. And now you have the GALL to advise people to vote
with their feet and go somewhere else. Hollow space between your ears!!
Are you stupid enough to INSIST on getting a “Big Mac”…at Taco Bell? Do
you also yell at the TV, for your team to “PUNT!!” while…watching
BASKETBALL? Sounds pretty stupid; doesn’t it? Yet that’s the equivalent
of what I keep hearing from the uninformed people. (YES I said “uninformed
people” they haven’t troubled themselves enough to learn EXACTLY what
this partnership entails.) They don’t KNOW what this partnership brings to
the table; it may actually mean SURVIVAL for SVRHC, with just the loss of
sterilization! Let’s be honest: there will be FAR more people put at risk
by a heart attack, car wreck, shooting, beating, knifing, horse fall,
motorcycle or bicycle wreck if SVRHC closes due to some secret problem that
this partnership MAY offer a solution for. “I don’t know of ANY such
problem!” Did you know about this deal, that’s been 2 YEARS in the works?
No? Then you statement doesn’t reassure me!
There have been a number of posts by people who are unhappy with the
hospitals decision. The board members don’t care about losing a few people.
They did what they felt was best for them. They did not care about the
community. Wasn’t this past Christmas Tree event the largest one that they
had. Didn’t the hospital raise more money than past years. The people in
the Sierra Vista and surrounding towns were the ones who decorated and bought
the trees. What about other fundraisers the hospital has. They count on the
local people to make it a success. They didn’t think we mattered when
making this decission. Why would we spend any money at fundraisers to help
the hospital. Why can’t the Christmas Tree event be done for a different
organization in the future.
Know what cracks me up about you “right to lifers”? You are the first ones to
----- about your taxes being used to pay for other people’s children. You
want these kids to be born, but you don’t want to take care of them. Yes, I
know you will say “it’s the parents’ responsibility to take care of their
children.” But the Catholic church has a history of telling its adherents to
breed like bunnies, but then the Catholic church refuses to help when the
poor parents’ litter grows too big for them to handle. The Catholic church’s
entire reason for banning birth control is to keep the number of its
adherents growing and growing in order to sustain itself. It has nothing to
do with God. It has everything to do with money. This is another case of
religious doctrine being forced upon the masses. If this deal goes through,
we should boycott the hospital. I will.
where does all that hatred come from?
Gone are the days when Dave Ressler was the CEO. Gone are the days when SVRHC
had pride and the ability to stand on its own finalcially. Gone are the days
when Marie Wurth was simply the VP of HR and NOT the mouth piece for
community relations. Gone are the days … what will the new days bring?
congrads former, I too am a former worked there for 16 years…., left when
this CEO came here because of the …way she conducted business.Maybe the
public should go and look at all of the different policy changes that have
come into affect seens this person has come into the job. Look at how she and
the board have changed thing to the point that they could be look at as a in
fringment of personal rights….Just ask there are many things that the
public doesnt know and yes you had better be concerned about what you dont
know. As for Wildfire you are not as informed as you think you are and maybe
you should do your home work before you make anymore comments.
That seems easy to say but Cochise County isn’t like Phoenix or Tuscon where
you can go “next door”. Get real, the only people that have a choice to go
else where live else where. And what if it is emergency care .. can you opt
to go elsewhere?? Wildfire & brian .. you are real pips!
